In a Weekly Standard piece titled, “The ‘American Sniper’ Freakout: Why the Left Can’t Tolerate This Movie,” Mark Hemingway does a fine job of breaking down exactly why the Left either hates “American Sniper” or is dishonestly claiming it is a left-wing movie. It’s a thorough, must-read that perfectly lays out the case. Outside the context of the film itself, there is an additional reason the Left can’t tolerate Eastwood’s masterpiece: every act of apostasy, even one, must be punished.
The Left cannot tolerate dissent. If just one thing sneaks through the institutions the Left is desperate to hold a monopoly on, it is immediately crushed, defamed, mocked, and Frankenstein-villaged until the end of time.
Just try to read this from Vox without seeing the vein throbbing in the author’s forehead:

The repeated theme I see from liberals is that Chris Kyle watches 9/11 happen, then goes to Iraq.
Liberals hate the idea of connecting 9/11 to Iraq.
Liberals hate the idea that the war in Iraq, or a warrior in Iraq, is put up on the big screen without repeating the WMD issue and Bush and Cheney, etc.
Liberals hate that they could not use a similar movie to further their propaganda against Bush and the Iraq war.
But, I assure you that liberal Hollywood is right now looking to duplicate this movie with all the political messages contained therein. Mark my words, there will be a movie about a soldier or group, but the overall message will be the same, tired anti-war lies they spewed before Obama took office.
Had the producers of Selma paid the actors the fair wages paid to the actors of Sniper rather than just gather people off the street, the 37% would have exploded to at least 47%

Now that a WMD can be a kitchen pressure-cooker (Tsarnaev brothers), the WMD argument has fallen flat.
Do it. You'll receive the double-benefit of enjoying the film, and driving the looney left mad.
That WMD being a pressure cooker came from the lowering of the WMD argument while Clinton was President.
He needed excuses to go into Somalia and Iraq (the Senate gave him the authority but he never executed). WMD originally meant only Nuclear weapons, but was expanded to biological and chemical in the 1990’s, especially after Oklahoma. Once they started lowering the bar, they lowered it all the way to the floor.

Elegantly stated HH. My wife and I were the first two patrons in the theater at the premiere showing of AS and were overwhelmed by this movie. Clint Eastwood has given the world the gift of a masterpiece produced in the true spirit of patriotic Americans everywhere. Thank you Mr. Eastwood!
