Staff of the Washington Health Benefits Exchange, which manages the states Wahealthplanfinder health-insurance exchange, told its board today that it had significantly improved the processing of account invoices and payments to insurance carriers.
Richard Onizuka, CEO of the exchange told board members that of the accounts processed in December, those with carrier-payment problems were down to 1.7 percent, and those with invoicing problems were 1.5 percent. We are seeing some improvement, Onizuka said. It still means that too many people are being affected.
It seems enormously high to me, new board member Mark Stensager said. And its a trend that has gone on for a long period of time. I know its complicated and I know everybodys working hard. But this is serious. So how to get it fixed? How quickly can it get fixed?
..............
Exchange staff also reported that re-enrollments to date were lagging behind expectations. According to Pam MacEwan, chief of staff, as of Dec. 31, 79,000 of approximately 130,000 account holders had re-enrolled for 2015. The numbers continued to bump up but it is not at our expectation, she said.
...............
Exchange staff also said that some consumers may have been confused by messages that went out from carriers mistakenly indicating that if consumers wanted to keep their current account they didnt need to take any action.
Thats not true.

We never did find out if we are re-enrolled for this month -- keeping fingers crossed we stay healthy. We sent in the re-enrollment document last week of November. Did get a letter saying a new term starts Feb 1, but they also want birth certificates for my wife and kids again (not mine!), although the Washington Health Authority has had the documents since their inception years ago.
The dopes you get when you call the helpline at the Washington HealthPlanFinder (web site administration) know 1/10 as much as I do about their own topical area, which is not a good sign.
The people at the Washington Health Authority do seem knowledgeable, but they can do nothing about things that are under the web site's purview.
PING!
Some people are only finding out only now, or will find out when they go to get treatment, they no longer are covered.
Then you need to make an office visit
I hope you get confirmation of coverage soon, as in today. For the first time in years we will be without any coverage. $1000 per month premium and nothing covered until 6k deductable is met pushed us over the edge. Not happening.
So you could pay up to 18k a year before any benefits. What an improvement over a rotten-apple policy!
Well don’t expect to get a seat next to Moochelle at the next SOTU as another Obamacare success story.
Good luck, Steve.
It’s so discouraging trying to deal with the government help desk environment.
I wrote you last night, around midnight, but the Free Republic website stalled out for a couple hours, and it wouldn’t post my Comment or even let me log in from a new page.
I start my application for Medicare next month.
They tell you to apply 3 months ahead of time.
That’s a whole new Learning Curve I will need to hike up.
The good news:
I’ve been blessed with excellent health, so that takes away much of the stress that folks with chronic conditions go through if they have to change providers or find themselves stuck with higher payments.
