Obamacare to make filing income taxes a nightmare for many low-income taxpayers this year

There are gong to be many millions of newly befuddled, fearful, and angry taxpayers this April, hit with the consequences of Obamacare’s social engineering when they try to file their taxes in April. Many will suffer unexpected financial penalties and costs, especially those accustomed to filing under the simplified tax forms applying to straight salaried people with standard deductions.

H&R Block is warning that “[n]o one can understand” the New Obamacare tax code requirements for filing this year. In fact, millions of people accustomed to filing the postcard-sized 1040EZ form will now have to file extremely complicated and detailed forms, one of which (IRS Publication 5187) has a 21-page single-spaced instruction manual.

Trying to hide fine is probably what caused the mess. I wonder what they call it?

I anticipated it. And, so did the Democrats.

That’s why it was put off as long as it was. They thought they could push the punitive consequences of the individual mandate until after the 2014 elections, and no one would notice.

This is the Republicans’ golden opportunity. But, Boehner will screw it up.

As was stated in the last paragraph of the article:

I have to wonder if John Koskinen, the IRS commissioner/political stooge, is planning to cite budget cutbacks as a reason for non-enforcement of Obamacare requirements and penalties, as a means of mitigating the political damage.

This is exactly what's going to happen. The majority of those using short form will fill it out as they always have. They won't file the extra forms...and nothing will happen. They'll get their refund with no deductions from it.

Seems if the IRS does figure out someone hasn't paid the penalty they should have, it won't be till years down the road.

I don't believe a tax return/refund is going to be held up while they figure out if they've met the qualifications for Obamacare subsidies.

Quickest way to get tax reform would be to move the deadline day from April 15th to November 1st and eliminate tax withholding. If Americans had to write a big check to the government right before the elections there would be hell to pay in Washington.

Excellent idea. Let them write a big check with a gun to their heads.

“I hope my taxes hurry up and come back”....my sister

This angers me. My brother was telling me all about what he got back last year...something in the vicinity of $6000...all thanks to the "Earned Income Credit", and having a bunch of kids. It's nonsense that people are getting far more back than they ever paid in, and I'm struggling to make it. Talk about being sick and tired of the BS. Something's gotta give, and soon. This can't continue.

True, and that is why it will never happen. The IRS is the cash register for Congress, republican or democrat, and a veritable means of favor-selling. They will NEVER give that up!

Others call it a nightmare. I call it a needed lesson in natural consequences. Obamacare is one of the most evil, anti-freedom laws in our history, and the low-information voters who still support it desperately need this lesson.

I sincerely hope that the millions of low-information voters are gonna find out the hard way that elections have consequences.

After April 15 anyone who couldn’t afford to hire an accountant to prepare their taxes will be a criminal.

I think at this point the only way to eliminate withholding would be a Constitutional amendment, and if we're going for that, then why not put some other limitations on the taxing powers of the US?

Here's what I'd propose: Amendment Booklet.pdf
(Though there's more than just tax-reform in there.)

They already made it a rule that all CPA’s have to attend some sort of educational class.

“Unfortunately the big corp’s like H+R will do ‘free’ returns for the poor. Even the online tax prepares all do it for free for the lower income bunch.”

In the past the FREE return was for filing the 1040-EZ form only. As soon as you add another form, there’s a fee. 1040-EZ should not require help to fill out. But some are so overwhelmed as soon as you involve the IRS.
The question now is with the additional O-Care form required
for people either without insurance or with subsidized policies - how few people are eligible to actually file the “EZ” form? Very few I’d imagine. Remember once you add
another form the FREE turns into a FEE for filing.
