Tech companies are notoriously dominated by white men, as we've learned from their various diversity reports in the past year. Many firms have pledged to do better, citing the way inclusion fosters creativity and innovation.
"This Monday only a handful of technology companies will close their doors and honor the King Holiday," Jackson said in an open letter to the tech industry. "It does not make sense to tout diversity and inclusion, to promote change and innovation and not recognize the King Holiday."

Most of the business world does not observe this holiday. Most companies are open for business as usual today. For whatever reason corporate America never caught on to making it a paid holiday. So what is his point???

Tech companies are notoriously dominated by white men So what? That's where the talent is. Just like the NBA is notoriously dominated by black men.

We have a floating holiday.
Can be used for MLK day or any other non-company-observed holiday.
Everyone’s in the office today, even the oppressed chocolate minorities. I guess it’s just not that important.

Concur with your post.
Most technology firms are open 24x7x365 with teams available to help clients.
What is his point?

I never worked for a company that gave me off Lincoln’s or Washington’s day off (they used to be separate).
The business of America is business, there Jesse...no matter what your Marxist _resident thinks. There is work to be done out there Jesse and no Obama-phones to conduct business deals....save for drug deals.

Our company decided to give us the day off for MLK. But in order to maintain the same number of company-paid holidays, they took away another day we had off — the day after Thanksgiving. Needless to say, all of the employees were mad including blacks, who said they didn’t give a hoot about having MLK day off.

If one really wanted to honor Dr King it’d be to work to end all laws, policies, regulations that take into account a person’s skin color. Ending quota systems. Ending diversity standards. Ending race-based hate crimes laws (and hate crimes laws period). Ending any special treatment of anyone no matter what color they are.
I’m for that. Today’s blacks, are not.

A lot of non-tech companies don't observe it either. The top tier holidays are New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Other federal holidays like MLK Day, President's Day, Columbus Day and Veteran's Day are not generally observed by most companies. Too bad, Jesse, Martin Luther King Day got included as a government only holiday.
But then everyone knows that Je$$e is primarily looking for payment of racial indulgences.
