Fox has confirmed that it is in talks to revive its iconic supernatural horror procedural, The X-Files.
Speaking Saturday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Fox TV executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman said they've been in talks not only with series creator Chris Carter, but stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, about the show's revival. Discussions to date have not been creative in nature but logistical; with Carter, Duchovny and Anderson all busy with their own projects, the biggest obstacle facing the reboot could be finding a time frame during which all three are free. Here's Walden:

I loved the original series BUT IMHO.. if they bring back another X Files... they should have younger actors to play Mulder and Scully. Part of the plot was that young FBI agents went up against the “older, more seniored” agents from the FBI/CIA/NSA/etc.. I just think something would be tired appearing to have middle aged actors still portraying themselves.
Most anything Rod Serling was involved with was dramatic / horror gold.
There were some great Night Gallery episodes too, that creeped the heck out of me when I was a kid.
Yes, she did do Bleak House. Hubby and I saw her in a Netflix show last year called, The Fall. She plays a detective. We liked it and decided last night to start on Season 2 (which just hit on Netflix); but, I guess it has been too long between seasons, as we were having a hard time remembering what was going on.
This one supposedly from the last week or two.
She isn’t in her 20s anymore, she will be turning 47.
I’m for it, as long as they don’t go all goofy sci-fi like they did in the last few seasons of the old show. There are some amazing writers out there today, and TV storytelling is far better than it has ever been.
And keep their relationship platonic!
Admittedly I also want new shows because the old ones look horribly dated. I cant even look at the opening theme without cringing because it looks soooooooo 1991.
Aren’t we all? They were the ONLY X-files. I think bringing them back (and Cigarette Man) would be great.
I agree, do something original and stop with the attempts to recreate decades past.
I watched the pilot for the 12 Monkeys series the other night. It was really just an abbreviated version of the movie with a couple of changes and not very good. The pilot would have been better referring to the movie and moving forward with the story.
An original basic plot isn’t so hard. Plenty of sci fi Freepers could come up with something good if we worked on it.
Manicures lose to cigarettes??
Think it would be great, my favorite TV show of the last 30 years and in fact, it was the last show on Network TV that I faithfully watched.
Mmmm, nope.
CGI is completely unnecessary when it comes to any kind of story.
IN fact, I would go as far as to say that CGI has ruined movies and TV.
I wish I could see some of the old Night Gallery episodes again, but those do not seem to be around like TZ is.
Personally, I think that The Twilight Zone was the best show of all time, with my favorite episode being The Obsolete Man.
Do you get MeTV? It comes on weeknights at 12:30 Cental
Hmm, MeTV I am not sure exactly what that is.
I have Direct TV, but I am not sure I have that channel.
I am about to google it and see what’s up.
You really think CG has ruined all the Star Trek movies through the years? I agree it is unnecessary is some cases, but is a great addition to good Sci-Fi/Horror. Just my opinion.
MeTV is broadcast TV. If you are decently near a large city, you should be able to get.
