CBS sports commentator Greg Anthony, a former NBA player, was arrested Friday and charged with soliciting a prostitute during an undercover sting operation, D.C. police said.
Anthony, 47, a father of four, was arrested in a room at the Doubletree Hotel on Rhode Island Avenue NW, not far from the White House, about 5:46 p.m., according to Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.
Others were also arrested in the investigation, Carew added, but he did not say how many people were detained.
A police report said that Anthony used a computer as part of the alleged solicitation.
Anthony apologized in a statement he released Saturday.
I made a mistake, he said, according to the Associated Press. With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry.
Anthony rose to prominence as an athlete as a point guard at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, helping the team win a national championship in 1990. He later played in the NBA for 12 years for the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers and teams in Vancouver, Seattle, Milwaukee and Chicago.

With 535 prostitutes in DC, why do they arrest this guy?
His bio mentions that he has three other children from past “relationships”. . .so this recent problem shouldn’t surprise anyone. It’s a chronic problem for many black pro athletes. So we get all bent out of shape over a prostitute. . but having three kids with other women, not his wife, doesn’t disqualify him from hero-worship. Sick.
A more accurate question is which head was doing the ‘thinking’?
he was just doing the job most Americans won’t do
“I believe the thinking is: a prostitute is a cash deal over and done.
A girl on the side might get your rabbit boiled.”
Someone said, “The payment to a prostitute isn’t for services rendered. The payment is for her to leave.”
If he’s from Nevada, why didn’t he just wait until he got home and then go to the Bunny Ranch. No cops involved!
Does anyone else wonder what the WaPo would have to
say if he was a Dem’Rat who had once pondered a campaign
for political office?
I agree with you. This is the kind of victimless crime I’d rather not see legalized (because of how that would affect overall society) but I’m not going to get worked up about it.
It’s truly a buyer-beware situation. If you are going to indulge, you better really be careful, in many ways, for many reasons.
I believe that was Charlie Sheen.

He’s a big republican if I remember correctly. Supported Obama and then switched to Romney last time.
No $h!t Sherlock.
As I recall, Steve McNair’s mistress shot him because he had a second mistress — she knew about his wife.
