FTVLive told you yesterday that Fox News and Dish Network had ended their retrans dispute and FNC has returned to the Dish bird.
As we predicted, the terms of the new deal werent disclosed. However, people familiar with the talks said Dish is paying a significant increase for Fox News, which is one of the most popular networks, not just among news channels but entertainment and sports services as well.
According to research firm SNL Kagan, the average monthly fee for Fox News is currently about $1.00 per subscriber. Under terms of the new pact, the price Dish would pay would rise to an average fee of around $1.50 per-subscriber, per-month, people familiar with the matter said.
Dish is also going to distribute Fox Business Network to more of its subscribers, the people said, and give it a channel position near Fox News as part of the agreement.
What does that mean if you are a Dish customer?
Eventually, your satellite bill will be going up.

I’m of three minds.. At&t. Commiecast and Dish.
At&t for phoney stuff
Commiecast for homewireless
Dish for All the rest including locals
Kick me. Plz!
We got tired of waiting for Dish to get Fox back, which we knew they would do eventually, and we got Direct TV on Sunday. AS far as the price, our Dish bill was much higher than our Direct bill.
Yeah and Fox wanted a cut of the supply and they were able to get it.
Once you get past the introductory promo rates the costs are comparable, for similar channels and equipment. Been over it many times.
Give it a few months.
My thoughts exactly.
For Dish consciously to make purely business decisions to endure the volume of subscriber defections, stress to its customer service department, loss of anticipated revenue, and reputationally--all-the-more after the TCM debacle--going about its negotiation with Fox so as to incur less downside risk should have been the obvious choice and relatively easy to effect. What Dish did, by contrast, seems self-destructive and irrational, which forces me to consider the political possibilities.

I have worked for dish, they treat their employees, customers, and programming providers worse than trash. I would do without any TV at all if they were the only option.
Dish has been having these issues with networks for years.
Notice that Direct never does?
We wanted to cut our bills down as much as we can, so we checked out ATT, verizon fios TV, and direct tv, and got all their prices, called up DISH and had the Talk. They have been good to us for many years, and stayed good. They reduced their costs until they beat their challengers. We’re sticking with dish.
Yes I am sure.
Yep. We're paying $80---no movie channels, not even the most complete channel package.
Yep. It’s the free market.
If you mean local stations, Dish / Direct TV only give you a small fraction of them...cable may not even carry them all.
DirectTV has had those same issues several times.
If I want to watch Fox News, I can easily do so online or through clips on the Roku Channel.
Anybody who pays for cable or satellite are fools.
