This opportunity represents a larger commitment to religious pluralism that is at the heart of Dukes mission, said Christy Lohr Sapp, the chapels associate dean for religious life. It connects the university to national trends in religious accommodation.Yes Christy, good job.
Have you been out to shop for a burka yet?

My alma matter would deal with this in a different way. It would take about 2 weeks for the Computer Science guys to replace the "call to prayer" with the theme from "Porky Pig". And, the amplification level would be as high as possible.

Use that response to rethink what she's doing here with her religous accommodation.

pluralism......
there is that word again.
Some things just are not meant to be and this is not meant to be in America.
How far we have slipped since 9/11 and Obama’s election.

I’m sure the same people who sue to stop Christmas pageants in elementary schools, or a manger scene publicly displayed, or any other Christian symbolism anywhere else in society will be suing Duke to stop this. Right?

Liberal indoctrination and political correctness continues. I have two daughters, 17 and 20 years old, that sometimes look at me as being crazy when I speak how America used to be. They don’t see it as good or bad, but morally equivalent to today. When I speak of articles like this one (yes, they will hear about it at dinner tonight) there won’t be any outrage on their part. At least they have daddy’s knowledge to piece things together when America is no more.

Members of the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, known as adhan or azan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower each Friday at 1 p.m. The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be moderately amplified, officials said in a statement Tuesday. This must just be a start. The call to prayer sounds 5 times a day every day, from early morning to night.

If I attended Duke, I would "feel" offended if they didn't play other music or calls for Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, et al.
Apparently, some now have the right not to be offended. Poor them and their whittle "feelings". Frig them all!

Gee, thanks, United Methodist Church, for allowing Duke University to slip out of your hands because of your unrepentant leftism that has denuded your pews and emptied your offering plates. And now, offering up your chapel to desecration... what could possibly go wrong?

The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be moderately amplified,Reminds me when they built a Mosque in Brooklyn Heights/Flatbush near a Jewish neighborhood and the "moderately amplified call to prayer" was about as "moderately amplified" as the horn on a diesel train. I could hear it all the way from the Brooklyn bridge. There is NOTHING "moderate" about the most obnoxious religion in the world.

College chaplains and assistants have always been the one un-noticed weak link in the fence of keeping radicals out of campus religion.
Leftist “liberation theology” clergy have been at Georgetown Un (DC), American University (a shitload since Charlie Rothers in the late 60’s), Rev. Chester Wickwire (Johns Hopkins Un, and a fan/friend of Soviet asset “Owen Lattimore” (from a personal contact with Wickwire); the Harvard Marxists, Yale chaplain lefties, etc.
Puke University seems to have an infiltration problem of their own making.
