For sure - just got word that our son’s ObamaCare would cost $500/month with $6500 out of pocket. He has zero assets and won’t get his first SS disability check until May. Cobra would have been cheaper.
It looks like he will be uninsured since the doctors/hospitals say they can’t refuse to treat him if he has no insurance. We can’t afford to foot the bills for his care, especially since it purchases nothing he won’t already get. Too bad he doesn’t speak Spanish - we could throw away his ID and get him good care w/o the extra hassle...
With SSDI he will be put on Medicare by the hospitals and healthcare providers.
He's been approved SSDI, but the first check doesn't come until May - hopefully Medicare will, in fact, kick in because Medicaid says he's not eligible.
