The train passengers’ calm consumption of crisps and bored checking of emails on the 11.43am to Birmingham suggested they hadn’t heard the news. Their destination, a city of more than a million people, had shockingly become Britain’s first caliphate and a no-go zone for non-Muslims – at least, according to an “expert” on Rupert Murdoch’s US-based Fox News channel.
“There are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in,” Steve Emerson, a commentator on terrorism, told millions of viewers on Sunday.
Raja Mohammed Ishtiaq, co-owner of the Raja Brothers grocery set up in 1977 by Pakistani immigrants, said Emerson’s comments were embarrassing and insulting. “We are not in cuckoo land,” he said. “There are lots of Muslims here but this is a multicultural society and there are beautiful links between the different religions. How can they say this? Birmingham is one of the stable communities.”
A few doors down, the Lahore restaurant – specialising in cuisine from Pakistan’s Taliban-controlled north-west frontier region – welcomes a mixed crowd. Sitting beneath a picture of the Pakistani cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, a white 31-year-old civil servant who asked not to be named said he came here daily for lunch, and sometimes dinner too.
As he polished off his kebab, his message was simple: “It is not a no-go area and there’s nothing to suggest it is becoming one.”

Emerson’s claims (esp the main one) are laughable even to those of us in the UK concerned by the rise in extreme Islam. To suggest one of the UK’s biggest cities is Muslim-only is ridiculous, and this guy is an ‘expert’?.
And if the result isn’t as violent and bigoted as you think?.
1—The three Muslims died protecting their shop and area from white and black looters and thugs.
2-Sharia patrols are being attempted in the UK, but too many your side of the Atlantic are unaware that such thugs are being clamped down on, arrested and jailed.
3—There are some Muslims in that city who adhere to extreme teachings, which is a great worry, although London and Bradford are worse. But Emerson’s claims are just hysterical.
Agreed, but to claim a whole city is Muslim only and off limits to whites/non muslims is just ridiculous.
Most Fox viewers have never been to the UK and will believe a lot of the hysteria Fox is pumping out. One bimbo on the channel stated that the French police aren’t armed for example. Sheer ignorance.
Because Paki is used a racist insult in the UK, as Paddy used to be and still is. Some Scots, not me, might claim Jocks is. The others are just plural terms for nationalities. Frogs is a xenophobic term.
For me Paki is used deliberately as a racist term of abuse, which is why I wont use it.

A huge blunder, and its not his first by a long shot. And Islam dosent set the tone there, its still an English city whose culture is mostly white British and black (Caribbean) British. Think soccer, beer, pubs and Bob Marley rather than Islam. With some European, Sikh and Hindu culture thrown in.
A real ‘expert’ would know his facts before spouting such ludicrous nonsense. This isn’t bashing Fox, its about exposing a clueless ‘expert’ for what he is.

Nobody is denying there isn’t, but to suggest an entire city (the UK’s second biggest in fact) is Muslim only, non-muslim free, is just laughable. As to sharia enforcers, the UK, unlike France, is catching them, jailing them.
The UK has a Muslim problem, the point is its not as hysterical as American media makes out.
What impresses me is that it is only two days after NBC reporters made horribly false reports about the Paris terrorists.
And NOTHING is said about that, but this remark by a mere guest on FOX is all over the media.
Still is plus there are many areas where on can’t go because the Paki’s won’t allow it due to their racism.
There was a vet from the second world war called Walter Chamberlain who got beaten up and told to never come there again as it was their area.
They seem to forget that their parents came to England and they live in England.
