Gun control advocates are using the ballot initiative process to take away your rights. Federal preemption is the only way to stop them. BearingArms.com's Bob Owens reports for the January issue of Townhall Magazine.

Democracy is dangerous. Democracy is mob rule.

Democracy is the serially uninformed and easily led being suckered into voting against their own best interests by deep-pocketed grifters who are looking out only for themselves.

There are quite a few states that allow initiative/referendum items on the ballot. This is true democracy and the assclowns are exploiting it and will continue to do so. If you can, urge your state reps to reform/repeal/eradicate this process. The initiative/referendums are sold with lies and distortions to the IPOS and end up putting new rules and regs in you life. The background check for nearly all firearms transactions initiative here in NV was sold to the IPOS under the guise of the worn out "closing the gun show loophole" and "putting an end to domestic violence". It will do neither but the IPOS bought it hook line and sinker. Like we don't have enough interference now. LMTFA! If I need you, I'll call you. Otherwise, butt out.

PETA and HUSA are using the same voter initiative process to outlaw farming by giving livestock civil rights.

PETA and the rest of the animal rights wackos had an initiative on the ballot last November here in Maine that would have banned bear hunting and trapping with bait (such as donuts).

PETA and their co-horts spent a boatload of money.....and lost.

What’s the difference between using vast sums of money for initiative/referendum items or using that same money to purchase politicians? Are there any (enough) politicians out there who don’t owe their allegiance to someone(s) who bankrolled their election? Sometimes the people need to go around the politicians that we sent to office. Having said that, it sure helps in this case to have judges in office who understand the 2nd amendment. They will ultimately be the final arbiter.

The biggest difference is that the left owns the media, and has worked hard to create as many low-information voters as possible, as able to vote as easily and emotionally as possible.

The works against us on the initiative process worse than for politicians.

Politicians have to deal with multiple issues, but an initiative usually only deals with one issue. Put enough spin on that issue by the media, buy enough professional marketing so that you give just the right emotional and misleading messages to the right low information voters, so they can just mark their mail in ballot as you tell them and mail it in, and you get where we are.

Plus if you have enough low-information new rich who want to “do good” without really understanding the issue, you get millions of dollars behind the campaign, as we saw in Washington state.

It ends up being tyranny by the mob.
