Just checked. In 1977 in LA Polanski was charged with rape of a minor, and he pled guilty to the lesser charge of unlawful sex with a minor. He went to Europe to avoid jail time. Hard to believe that was 38 years ago.

He's a real old guy now. It's not like he's denying anything or there are new charges. I can't imagine what the harm would be of letting the charge stand and arresting him if he ever attempts to enter the US. Save the cells for crazies tearing the US apart today.

No, I'm not approving of sexual predators. But considering the ethics of that time, a lifetime of acknowledged guilt seems appropriate.

Well, he a** raped someone’s 13 year old daughter with alcohol and actual force, so I think it is a mistake to let the passage of time cleanse this crime.
