As much as I despise Mohammed for the murdering, thieving, raping, slave trading genocidal savage that he was, I remember an interesting story from the Laura Ingals Wilder books.

I think this is a true story.

Laura’s husband, Almonzo Wilder, was given that name, because of a Mohammedan, Al Monsour, who saved the life of one of his ancestors who was wounded in a battle with the Mohammedans. As a result, Wilder’s ancestor promised Al Monsour that there would be a man named after him throughout the generations of Wilder’s descendants. The name was contracted to Almonzo.

That’s such a cool story. I love the “Little House” books, and “Farmer Boy” although technically not part of the “Little House” series, is definitely one of my favorites.

I have known Lebanese Christians with the surname Mansour or Monsour.

The Moorish occupation of Spain has many stories of acts of chivalry between Muslims & Christians.

Wow, I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, and I didn’t know that. Thanks.
