The question of who should or should not be allowed to donate blood ought to focus entirely on the costs and benefits to patients. Exactly!

There will be TWO (2) pools of blood.
1. For the non EXEMPT.
2. Special, and preserved without HIV, for the EXEMPT.
That will match TWO tiers of medical care,
and the TWO tiers of law (none for the EXEMPT, of course).

A few years ago I had a hip replacement at a major Boston hospital. The surgeon said that it was possible that I'd need to get some blood during,or soon after, the surgery and he *strongly* advised me to donate my own blood beforehand (the surgery was scheduled for about 10 days later) rather than depend on Red Cross donations.Having worked in medicine for 20+ years I knew exactly why he made that recommendation without him needing to explain.
Any blood given by perverts and junkies should be boldly labeled and should,by law, only be given to those who give specific consent...beforehand...to be given tainted blood of this sort.
My 20+ years in Emergency Medicine showed me,up close and personal, just how damaging AIDS *and* Hepatitis C can be.
I want no part of either one!

Some people are just plain stupid. How much brain power does it take to know that people from an extremely high risk group should never be allowed to donate blood? (rhetorical question)

The writer claims continuing to ban sodomists blood donations “stigmatizes” them.
No sir, a preference for dipping their penis and tongue in raw sewage every day “stigmatizes” them a long time before we get to blood donations.

Many HIV infected people, like those with herpes, want as many other people infected as possible. The idea is a pandemic forces a faster cure. Also, misery loves company..

Second, the AP also says that a UCLA study shows that the U.S. blood supply could increase by two to four percent if two million additional men are eligible to donate -- or between 310,000 and 620,000 additional blood donations. But...but...Hollywood assures me that homosexuals are 10% of the population.

They don’t care if normal people die. What’s important to them is “equality”. Everybody treated equally. It’s “unfair” for normal people to escape getting AIDS, so they should get it too, just like those poor oppressed misunderstood downtrodden people who practice things that spread the virus.
