FREEPORT, Texas – A large, angry crowd gathered at an officer-involved shooting scene in Freeport Wednesday after a police officer shot and killed a man.
Freeport police say they received a call for help from the Garden Villa Apartments at 310 Yaupon. Someone inside an apartment said their door had been kicked in.
When police arrived, three frightened children ran outside. Police went inside and found 31-year-old Ronald Sneed on top of his girlfriend in her bedroom.
They say he appeared to be pointing a gun at the woman and that's when the officer shot him.
Police haven't released other details about Sneed's shooting, but did say they recovered a weapon.
Police told reporters that Sneed's girlfriend later thanked them for "saving her life."
Relatives say Sneed lived at the apartment with his girlfriend and her three children.
"But these cops just going around shooting people because of hoodies and mistaken identity and because they're scared," said Latavia Sneed, the dead man's sister. "That's not right, man. Do your job. You're supposed to be for the people. Justice, protect and serve."
Neighbors believe the children may have witnessed the shooting.
"I don't like it. It's senseless," said Clarissa Murray, a neighbor. "And there were kids in the house. What if they shot one of the kids?"
"Why do you have all these other weapons? You have Tasers, you have these sticks, you know," asked Sneed's sister. "Why do you have to shoot somebody so many times to kill them?"

They have been emboldened.

Another model citizen killed by police for no reason. It is embarrassing how ignorant these women are.

I truly believe this 24/7 coverage of the antics of human debris drives this “social phenomenon” to a LARGE extent.

Why do you have to shoot someone do many times to kill him when you have tazers and these “sticks?”
The answer is obvious when the now dead thug brother of yours was ready to kill his girlfriend with a simple trigger pull. The answer is so obvious that its painful to even have to explain it.
Very true - but in the choice between him and her...in my calculus he dies.
...And he probably isn’t a very good shot. lol
Most of the cops aren’t at all. Can’t tell you how many stories I’ve read of 5 or so cops firing something like 5,638 rounds at a suspect, only to hit them maybe 8 times, two of which were considered “fatal” wounds. lol
But it was alright for your brother to point a weapon at the girlfriend with kids in the house? What if he'd shot one of the kids?
