A young mother and cartoonist who survived the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris today said she had let the suspected Al Qaeda killers into the magazine office.
Corrine Rey said she had returned from picking up her young daughter from a kindergarten when she was confronted by two heavily armed men wearing balaclavas.
'I had gone to pick up my daughter at day care, arriving in front of the magazine building, where two masked and armed men brutally threatened us,' said Ms Rey, who draws under the name 'Coco'.
'They said they wanted to go up to the offices, so I tapped in the code,' said Ms Rey, referring to the digi-code security system on the inter-phone.
Miss Rey and her daughter hid under a desk, from where they saw two other cartoonists being executed.
'They shot Wolinski and Cabu,' she said, 'It lasted five minutes. I had taken refuge under a desk.
She said the men 'spoke French perfectly' and 'claimed they were 'Al Qaeda terrorists'.

But the problem then, is that the cartoons really aren’t funny, and they always need a lot of -very basic- help from the IT department. And the spend all day in AOL chatrooms.

I think had it been a man the repsose would have been different....woman respond emotionally first...she did right to protect her child but could she have warned the others after they went up the stairs???
Until we know how this really went down there’s no way we can really make a judgement....but I would have protected my child first. Not so sure I’d open the door without an argument...Guess I’d have to be in that position to know.

I doubt there is a mother on the face of the earth (other than those who strap bombs to their children) who would have reacted differently.
Subsequently, the reason I challenged you is because you were demanding to know at what number of victims would you (beforehand, and without knowing) offer up your own child.
Keep the focus on the STUPID lack of security, and not the poor woman who did what mothers are supposed to do - protect their children.

Le Monde assure aussi que les trois suspects ont été identifiés.
Thus, two suspects (probably the killers) French-Algerians just returned from Syria. The third one without fixed abode, but enlisted in a high-school in Reims. This is were the search is centered at the moment.

But remember that we are talking Europe here, defeated Europe, not the U.S. of A. Europeans have been neutered (for numerous reasons and by numerous methods) for decades. They don’t think the same, and will not have the same reactions and solutions as us. Not worth arguing over, really. This situation and result would most likely not happen in the U.S.
I do not believe this woman, because the terrorists should have killed her and the child...there is no reason not to, as she was a cartoonist as well. Where in all the ISIS slaying have they cared if it was a woman or child?
And if it is as well planned as they say, then they would have known who she was....What is her religion?

It’s also notable that Charlie Hebdo lampooned a LOT of people and beliefs. They were the intellectual equivalent of passing intestinal gas loudly in elevators. To them, Islam was only one sacred cow on a long, long list. They probably thought this would be no biggie. In this case they were wrong. Mere defiance isn’t enough to ward off some enemies (real or perceived).
They probably were also pretty fair leftists, politically.
