Convention of states = more laws the judiciary can legislate away, the executive can ignore, and legislative can pork barrel into obscurity.

The only worthwhile amendments are structural, those that cannot be ignored any easier than even calendar year elections. If the states pass an amendment which returns senatorial elections to the state legislatures, there is nothing that anyone in DC, even Scotus, can do to foil it.

I think you have it backwards. It's now up to the states to ignore the federal government. Let Obama, McConnell, and Boehner roll tanks into downtown Montgomery or Frankfort or Nashville or Jackson.
