"Horatius famously asked "Who will stand on either hand and guard this bridge with me?" Horatius saved Rome. Congressman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) finds himself in a similar moment.

There are enough other conservatives waiting on the sidelines for Jordan ...

This makes sense. He would make a fine Speaker. Sending prayers up he finds it within himself to take the step up ....

J is the 10th letter. So he’s early-ish in the roll call... his voice calling out a nonBoehner would be great.
still have 7 hours or so
But really, we cannot expect Boehner to lose... if he’ll make a deal w/ dems to pass CRomnibus, don’t you think he’ll also make a deal to be speaker?
However, if he does that he would probably be removed by a majority of the House and they’d revote.
Best case is he uses dems to get the numbers he needs thru abstentions or actual dem votes for him resulting in the baring of his truth - and subsequent removal.
Worst case is we get only 15 or so and boehner is not required to dip into the dem pool for help. He will then absolutely crush the conservatives and will spawn a 3rd party

Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the gate:
“To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his God
Every one of my children could quote Macaulay’s Horatius by age 8, and they heard it frequently as they grew up. We all will die. How can we die better than for God and family? [Yep, I’m another “bitter” clinger, it’s just that I’m too happy with life and freedom for the alleged bitterness to show.]

According to Babbingtons poem, Horatius famously asked Who will stand on either hand and guard this bridge with me?Pdd way to refer to Thomas Babington Macaulay.

How many times have history shown us that the courage of just one man can turn the tide.
Our government has been taken over by a pack of selfish cronies to the point in which party labels no longer mean a thing.
Maybe not as elegant as Horatius at the bridge, but no less true I love the following exchange from the Movie 'Open Range':
Mack: Shame what this town's come to.
Charley Waite: You could do something about it.
Mack: What? We're freighters. Ralph here's a shopkeeper.
Charley Waite: You're men, ain't you? Mack: I didn't raise my boys just to see 'em killed.
Charley Waite: Well you may not know this, but there's things that gnaw at a man worse than dying.
What I've watch this nation become and how I feel about it is gnawing on me hard.

Principled, I have to believe they are feeling tremendous heat, the last numbers I saw were overwhelming .... 75% of GOP want Boehner/McConnell GONE, and if Boehner’s vengeance spawns that 3rd Party, then so be it.
I really sense they are waiting for the right leader to get behind, and then the numbers might surprise us. But I see your scenario.

Pollster1, Chills. Thank you for that.
Mr. Jordan is surely doing some soul searching tonight.
Sherman Logan, Yes it is odd. Perhaps Mr Erickson is tired??

I would prefer Gohmert, but will take any non Rino Republican. From what I know of him Jordan seems like he would stand up to Obozo.
