The viral claim that one black is killed by police every 28 hours was awarded 4 Pinocchios by the Washington Post fact
checker for being misleading.
However, the claim pales to the fact that over one black is killed EVERY HOUR around the clock by other blacks. 6,002 were killed in 2012 alone. Just do the math.
Regardless of how many Pinocchios the claim got, I’d love to see an honest statistic about how many blacks WITHOUT CRIMINAL RECORDS are killed by police. I’d imagine it would be a much different number.
The main reason blacks are killed by cops is because they’re either in the process of committing a crime or have recently completed committing a crime and they choose to go to war with the cops to avoid arrest. It’s pretty much suicide by cop with stupidity and ghetto machismo as aggravating factors.
Message to all black people in fear of being shot by a cop: Don’t commit crimes. Don’t be out on the streets at all hours of the night. If a cop asks you to do something, don’t argue or fight, be civil and respectful. Escalating the situation WILL NOT work out well for you. If you think white people have “privilege”, act white when around cops.
Oops. I did the math. You better recheck your numbers. 8760 hours in a year. 6002 killed. This does not add up to over one black killed per hour.
About 1 every 1.5 hours.
And about 1 baby every 3.5 minutes.
Whatever’s taking out 1 every 28 hours isn’t the priority.
