WASHINGTON The latest head-count shows House Republicans may be within 15 votes of making the first step toward dethroning Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, by forcing a second ballot.
The effort by GOP House members to oust Boehner is gaining momentum, but most of the action on Capitol Hill Monday is obscured from view, with the cajoling and arm-twisting for votes taking place behind closed doors.
Even many of the most conservative Republicans who would be the most likely to vote against Boehner are playing it close to the vest, because, if the speaker survives the coup, he could retaliate by stripping lawmakers of prized committee assignments and chairmanships.
Members have to make a monumental decision, and they have to make it fast: The vote for House Speaker is Tuesday, and Boehners two challengers announced their candidacies just over the weekend, Reps. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, and Ted Yoho, R-Fla.
WNDs Joseph Farah has begun the grass-roots Dont Be Yellow: Dump Boehner Now! campaign, which has already sent some 560,000 letters to House Republicans attempting to mobilize the palace coup.
But it looks like the voters have their back. WND readers have ordered to have delivered more than 500,000 letters urging House members to fire the speaker in its Dump Boehner campaign. And a recent poll found 60-percent of Republican voters want a new speaker.
WND has contacted 65 Republican House members, including the most conservative lawmakers, to ask who they would vote for, and why, but it appears most are waiting to see how much traction the Boehner mutiny gains before casting their lots.
For instance, a spokesman for staunch conservative Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., told WND, Hes keeping his options open.

The great conservative hero Newt Gingrich is committed to seeing Boehner reelected.
245 republicans and they can’t even find 30 more to vote no
Probably fear is driving the reluctance. If boehner survives, then he will retaliate against those who opposed him. That’s what is keeping many from committing themselves to outsting Boehner.
I believe that my congressman, Justin Amash, has already been stripped of positions because he opposed Boehner the last time. He hasn’t said, to my knowledge, where he stands, but I can’t believe he would support him this time.

Patton@Bastogne “was” perhaps Newt Gingrich’s most loyal admirer at Free Republic ...
those days are “over”.

It’s a lesser evil. No biggie. We like those.
"Listen, I'm a politician which means I'm a cheat and a liar, and when I'm not kissing babies I'm stealing their lollipops. But it also means I keep my options open. "
Like that stupid commercial:
PUSH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you strike at the King, do not miss.
Don’t be too hard on Newt. That climate couch must be lonely.
hasn't that already started? Isn't that the SOP of his reign?
Eric Bolling on The Five just claimed it’s the far right, and it’s not going to happen and little Miss Rino Bo Peep Bushbot Dana whats her face chimed in, too. They make me sick.
Hes keeping his options open.
In other words he’s waiting to see if Boner needs his vote.
When Newt said he was the ultimate insider, he was not really joking
So there are only 10 congressmen who stand for the Constitution’s separation of powers, while the rest of the cowards are worried about their stinking committee assignments!!! The vote tomorrow will separate those who talk the talk as conservatives from those who walk the walk. Those failing the test, must be primaried in 2016.
I would LOVE it if such a thing would happen, but I don’t see it happening.
Any politician, no matter how ‘good’ they are won’t go past that ‘event horizon’ when it comes to self preservation. If they go for getting rid of his sorry ass, if it doesn’t happen, their career in Congress is essentially over.
Then again, even if the effort fails, they could be remembered later as one of the few that had courage and made a stand!
