".....What conservatives need to understand is that they do not have the power to get their guy elected Speaker. Conservatives now only have the veto power, which is powerful in and of itself.
Conservatives can block anyone from being Speaker. They can work together to ensure someone more favorable to themselves is elected, but they themselves cannot pick that person.
29 votes for someone other than Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)N/A can keep Boehner from being Speaker. The odds are that the person the conservatives vote for initially would never become Speaker.
Conservatives in the House need to understand that if they want to be a force to be reckoned with, they need to use their veto out of the gate to block the Speaker.
29 of them, voting for someone other than Boehner, will do just that. And doing so will then give them leverage throughout the next Congress.
The vote happens tomorrow.

No! I’m going to sit in the corner and suck my thumb and pout, and vote for the Disgronificator candidate for the next president, unless MY GUY is elected Speaker.
That was the same idea as two years ago (which failed) except now Boehner has more Republicans he can lose vote for now.
Lou Gomert was on FNC and seemed to say similar, vote for me to block Boehner, nothing about what he would do as Speaker.
Really need a serious attempt to replace Boehner as he has lots of bills in mind he plans on Obama signing, this symbolic stuff could backfire.
The democrats won’t vote for boner initially. They want him weakened so he’ll be even more spineless. But eventually they’ll vote for him. They and their republican buddies do not want a conservative speaker.
Articles like this one make it clear that conservatives and the establishment GOP are not just distinct from one another, but have different agendas.
You can vote for a Democrat-lite, if you want, but I’m sure others have the same question that I have for you: FR is a conservative site.
The sorting is over. We know the sheep from the goats. If you lukewarm support “moderate” Republicans ... WITH are you still here?
The "sheep" have 25 votes in the house. What do you suggest they do?
Erick, STFU and just let it happen for God’s sake.
Amen!
