More Republicans Say They Won’t Support Boehner For Speaker

week’s vote.

The latest Republican to announce plans to oppose Boehner is Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, who made public his intentions in a Sunday evening statement.

“Trust is a series of promises kept; my vote for new leadership reflects a promise I made to voters when they elected me,” Gosar said. “I cannot stand beside the same leadership that has offered up bills too large to read, used parliamentary tricks to bring bills to the floor and has refused to take swift action against the president and his administration’s unconstitutional actions.”

The official speaker’s election is set for Tuesday, when the House will convene for a public floor vote to open the new Congress.

While the vote is usually just a formality, the hope of the anti-Boehner bloc is for enough Republicans to deny Boehner a majority of the vote, forcing him out of the race. Under the rules, that would likely require about 30 Republicans voting for someone else.

Thank you.

I will try again. I managed to get through to the switchboard and leave a voice message, but will try your link instead of the one provided by my “congress critter”.

I am not as senile as I appear, most of the time.

As usual, a lot of bluster and finger-in-the-wind; aka ‘politics’. A chorus of crickets over the last 6 years with the Cryer and Yurtle at the wheel. Where were they stalwarts of the Republic DURING (Yeah, I know, on their knees for the committee chairs, some major pork-barrel funds, etc.)??

Color me impressed when the tally is taken (and LIVE, not slipped under door of some backroom, smoke filled ‘deal’ area)

This does seem to be the rebel wing of the GOP doing some strutting.

I serious doubt their are 29 conservatives in the House willing to risk their beltway careers to bring down Boehner but we shall see.

Strutting is exactly right. Prop. part of the back-room deal (you can do XYZ, we’ll twist some arms to make sure the boating ain’t a-rockin’)

And exactly why I vote (L) instead of (R)....A party more worried about themselves (re-election/chairmanships/committees/etc.) than the Country, let alone their own constituents.

Color me impressed, and surprised, if/when these ‘stalwarts’ butt heads w/ the ‘leadership’ after he’s safely back at the helm. Otherwise, I expect the dog-pound to roll-over after not too long after the dust-up.
