Less than 3 percent of illegal immigrants will ever be deported, and more than 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border remained unsecured as of 2014, according to Sen. Tom Coburns final oversight report released Saturday morning, which found the Homeland Security Department failing in several of its top missions.
The report also said corruption is a serious problem in the Border Patrol, but said agency officials actually told internal affairs investigators to cut down on the number of cases they were pursuing, according to the former division head.
In another finding Mr. Coburns staff on the Senate Homeland Security Committee found mission creep to be a problem: agents at one immigration agency spent time cracking down on womens lingerie that they believed infringed on Major League Baseballs officially licensed logos. The agents raided a lingerie store in Kansas City, Mo., flashed their badges and confiscated 18 pairs of underwear marked with an unauthorized Kansas City Royals logo, Mr. Coburns investigators found.

But, since Coburn thinks Obama is “a neat man”, all is forgiven.
is it any surprise that the border patrol is a corrupt mess? after 5 years of that ridiculous Napolitano woman in charge at homeland security, I’m shocked that we haven’t suffered another attack on a major American city.
I’m sure it will happen, but it will probably happen to obama’s successor - who he will immediately blame from his retirement on a golf course for squandering the perfect legacy of security that he created.

But Harry Reid said last summer that the border is secure.

The word is “unsecured.”
A government that refuses to secure it’s legitimate lawful sovereign borders, will itself eventually become illegitimate and lawless.
We are there.
But he didn't miss celebrating Cinco De Mayo up in the White House, at tax payer expense while tens of millions entered illegally during war time yet....
The 3% is the more important number.
Solution? Stop giving illegal immigrants:
Driver's licenses
Welfare Payments
Jobs
Anchor babies
In-state or Free tuition
Get the deportation rate up to 90+%.
Use these for the southward "repatriation" journey.
The solutions have been voiced 10 million times....They’re not interested in solutions or securing the borders. This should be inordinately clear after decades of this...
True, but at least Free Republic gives me a chance to rant, with the assurance that at least here, unlike with Congress, someone IS listening.
