Local activist DaRius Ali of Operation Help or Hush arrives in Dutchtown to look at apartments for the organization's transitional housing program on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. Ali is among a group of protesters living in area motels, preparing to stay in St. Louis long-term by moving into apartments subsidized by the organization.
A group of protesters stormed St. Louis police headquarters on New Years Eve, shouting and pushing their way inside, only to be met by a line of aggressive police and pepper spray.
Their plan for a sit-in inside the lobby was one of the boldest actions theyve taken in five months of protesting, and the act suggested that in 2015 the movement wont be going away.
The marches, the sit-ins and other demonstrations in the 150 days following the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, are the same kinds of actions protesters are planning for the new year.
Its a playbook that has puzzled many in the St. Louis area who arent sure what the protesters are asking for, how long demonstrations will continue, or even who is leading the charge.
Thats because while the protesters are drawing on civil rights movements of the past, they are also drafting their own blueprints.
Theyve engaged in conventional civil disobedience, such as rallies and highway shutdowns. And yet, tools such as Twitter have allowed protest organizers to mobilize quickly with no need of a single leader or a centralized message.
Theyve clashed with establishment civil rights leaders, such as the Rev. Al Sharpton at a recent march in Washington.
Their perspective shows a difference in tactics and generations. While the protesters are of all ages, most are millennials. Many are women.

Has robbing convenience stores become a civil right?
They might be able to do that. I don’t remember any cursive used on blueprints I’ve seen.
Were the lost generation, said Kayla Reed.
If you keep voting for Democrats then you’re going to be lost for the rest of your life
“Ali is among a group of protesters living in area motels, preparing to stay in St. Louis long-term by moving into apartments subsidized by the organization.”
-So long as the “subsidies” are actually paid for with private monies from the group, I could care less. One does wonder, though, if taxpayer money (i.e. subsidized housing, grants for the group, etc.) will come into play.
“A group of protesters stormed St. Louis police headquarters on New Years Eve, shouting and pushing their way inside, only to be met by a line of aggressive police and pepper spray.”
-Um, maybe I’m kooky here, but I tend to think that when a mob of screaming people try to force their way into a police precinct (or any other building for that matter), using pepper spray is not aggressive behavior, but a sign of marked restraint.
“Their plan for a sit-in inside the lobby was one of the boldest [and stupidest] actions theyve taken in five months of protesting...”
-There, fixed it.
“The marches, the sit-ins and other demonstrations in the 150 days following the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, are the same kinds of actions protesters are planning for the new year.”
-Which hasn’t changed, and won’t change, the fact that the grand jury findings and the facts of the case both show that the officer in this case acted appropriately.
“Its a playbook that has puzzled many in the St. Louis area who arent sure what the protesters are asking for, how long demonstrations will continue, or even who is leading the charge.”
-Oh, so it’s OWS all over again?
“Thats because while the protesters are drawing on civil rights movements of the past, they are also drafting their own blueprints.”
-Translation: they’re a bunch of boneheads who really don’t have any idea of what they’re doing.
What a bunch of goofballs.
Want a blueprint ?
#PantsUpDontLoot
I can imagine what an author with such a name looks like.
Looking for answers? Look for ANSWER, and the RCP and the CPUSA.
They’re protesting but they don’t know what they want? Ok.
It is according to what color you are. If you are the right color it is.
Where does the money come from?
I am certain there is taxpayer money involved somewhere
FergusonPersons can read a blueprint?
Since when?
Strict proof is demanded.
I would also bet the rent money that the police brass and prosecutors have received orders from Washington D.C. on how to act. And I would also bet that the “protestors” are receiving instructions and advice from the Department of Justice on what moves to make. And you can rest assured that tax money is used to support the “protestors”.
Not sure how the use of longhand is relevant to the rioting...
Attacking a police station should get you jail.
I’m surprised they can even print a blueprint at all. Prussian blue aint what it used to be.
I’m not even sure if that is supposed to be sarcastic. I mean, the one in the middle?
Photo-shopped. Fake, but accurate.
Ahh...
My knowledge of Photoshop is only to the extent of adjusting colour levels on images scanned from 135 film. I sometimes work with old film, and the raw image, most of the time, is all right—just needs minor adjustment. But I do know how to perform more involved colour restoration...
It’s just one of my many hobbies...
