Degrees of separation from Steve King

A flock of 2016 presidential hopefuls will be attending a major GOP event in Iowa this month co-sponsored by anti-immigrant gadfly Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa). Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who has made outreach to minorities part of his appeal, won’t go. His office says there is a scheduling conflict. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush also begged off. What to make of all this?

(SNIP)

He is no David Duke, but his distasteful and flamboyant attacks on illegal immigrants are well known.

(SNIP)

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie headlined a fundraiser for King and reportedly announced, “I will be a supporter of Steve King for as long as he continues to be in public life. I consider him a friend.” Really, governor? He should not feel compelled to suck up to an individual who dabbles in venomous rhetoric. (Aside from his noxious views on illegal immigrants, King is among the most irresponsible members of the House and supporter of stunts like the 2013 government shutdown. Other than sheer suck-uppery, there is no reason why a mainstream pragmatic governor would embrace King so tightly.)

What, he's gotten drunk, put on a feather boa, and assaulted illegal immigrants? Why isn't he up on criminal charges?

Or does the gerbilist simply mean he doesn't think we should have people in the United States who aren't American citizens or legally-permitted foreign nationals.

Steve King is one of the most decent men I have ever met.

Rubin soils herself with this one.

“Aside from his noxious views on illegal immigrants”

When Cruz gets the nomination, JenRub will be on suicide watch.

She’s only happy when she can put a lip lock on the posterior of someone like Romney or McCain.

Rep. King is NOT a "gadfly", which implies that he is more annoying than serious. Gadflies try to work their way in. King is in. You may as well call Rosa DeLauro a "gadfly".

That's quite the underhanded barb wrapped inside an underhanded compliment. Well, Al Sharpton's attacks on Greek homos are well known too. Are Dems seeking a national post going to shy away from him? The president doesn't. Of course, he's not Greek.

Interestingly, our local GOP was contacted by an operative of Dennis Michael Lynch (who made the films ‘They Come to America, & They Come to America 2’). Lynch is contemplating a run for president in 2016. For some reason King dissed him causing him to consider re-registering as an independent rather than a republican. If he’s that anti-illegal immigration, he should’ve welcomed Lynch.

Okay, she’s covered on Sharpton, but heck, Pelosi has equally egregious things that any Catholic should find incredible offensive.

She’s really demeaning herself here.

Her façade is melting.

FU Jennifer Rubin, for mentioning David Duke in the same sentence with Steve King. Even to say “he’s no David Duke” is a deliberate attempt at correlation, *itch.

FU Jeb

Joke I heard, the only Bush with a chance at the White House in 2016 is Hillary Clinton.

And FU Rande, you have a scheduling conflict? At least have the guts to turn down the invitation instead of making an excuse.

Pretty slimy, Jen, even for you.

It would be fun to watch Jennifer Rubin interview Steve King. At the end of the interview, she would be babbling incoherently, her lies and her agenda revealed, and King would never have raised his voice.
