'He was Hitler's favourite Nazi commando, famously rescuing Mussolini from an Italian hilltop fortress, and was known as "the most dangerous man in Europe".
After World War Two, he landed in Argentina and became a bodyguard for Eva Perón, with whom he was rumoured to have had an affair.
So when Otto Skorzeny arrived in Ireland in 1959, having bought a rural farmhouse in County Kildare, it caused much intrigue.'

I read a book by a member of the Charlemagne Division, I think it was division but it could have been some other size unit. The author said that his outfit and Skorzeny were bitter enemies.
Despite that, when they were retreating from the Russians, Skorzeny and his men held a bridge until the very last minute, allowing them to escape before blowing it.
The practice of duelling and the associated scars...
It would seem that the guys WITHOUT the scars should be more esteemed.
Yep, but the scars are proof of being a high speed swordsman, willing to engage in such a dangerous activity.
A visible purple heart.
“A scar is a tatoo with a better story....”
That is a very sharp quote.
My many scars are why I don’t need a tatoo.....none are on my face, but I have a son and a beautiful daughter with scars on their faces, another son with large scar on scalp and the scars give each of them special character........
If you look at the rules of academic dueling, they don’t allow for much in the way of defense. The point wasn’t too show that you were a skilled swordsman but to demonstrate your bravery and physical toughness. And to acquire a badass scar.
Even Mossad visited Skorzeny when he was living in Spain. Since he was not considered a war criminal, they felt it was perfectly fine to interview him.

Right, call me a Nazi. That’s about your speed. You’re always looking to start something and then can’t handle the feedback.
“When Berlin was surrounded, he seemed to enter and exit Berlin at will.”
Hanna Reitsch, and her Storch, were more responsible for that, than Skorzeny.
That she flew a light, unarmed plane into surrounded Berlin several times, landing on city streets, with the forces arrayed against her, was nothing short of miraculous.
In an interview, she said she would gain as much altitude as she could, then cut the engine and glide all of the way into Berlin, over the Russian forces, landing by only the light of the fires, and her own knowledge of Berlin’s streets.
Tina Fey dueled with sabers?
Hanna Reitsch was pretty amazing herself.
Also an unrepentant Nazi to the very end.
Supposedly people would ask their barbers to cut them for a scar.
Today there is a group (possibly a black fraternity) where you are initiated with a “buck fifty” - getting a cut across your face that requires about one hundred and fifty stitches. I’ve never seen it, but have seen the brands on the arms from fraternities.
Straight razors have always been the weapon of choice for the bar psychos and transvestites, while they aren’t good for killing, they have always been famous for their scarring.
They are good for the transvestite because they can be used to whack the head to cause a lot of bleeding and theatrics, to violently settle disputes and release emotion and enable escapes, without killing the other guy.
Is the straight razor coming back in favor among blacks, as a carry weapon?
Not to my knowledge; while they are small/light and easy to conceal, they aren’t much good against even a good club with better range.
Yet some nasty fellows have always carried them, every razor man that I have ever met, was creepy and repulsive.
