I moved from coastal Georgia back to Washington state due to the humidity and the mosquitos. Being priced out of Seattle, I moved to a quiet little conservative Dutch farming village just south of the Canadian border. It’s homey, safe and just a few hours from Seattle.

#10 – 5 Seconds of Summer: “She Looks So Perfect”

”Billboard”: With a hook that’s ingrained in your head midway through the song and an instantly classic shout-out to American Apparel, this understandably broke 5 Seconds of Summer in the US and introduced us to pop-punk’s great new hopes.

Publius: I’m not sure what to make of it. It’s moderately melodic. Drumbo could probably tell me what to listen for. I’ve been out of popular musical circulation too long.

#9 – Taylor Swift: “Blank Space”

”Billboard”: After years of writing scathing songs about her ex-flames, Taylor Swift tossed every acidic “Maybe she’s the problem” user comment into a blender and served up a self-aware smoothie as the second single from “1989". Bonus points for a music video that ranks among, or maybe at the top of, Swift’s very best visuals.

Publius: Interesting visuals, somewhat catchy tune, but I wouldn’t want a b!tch like that in my life. I’ve known a few too many psychotics to do that again. Great sex, but you pay a terrible price for it.
