What defines gender? Is it biology, the heart and mind, or some combination of both? As the debate surrounding transgender children swirls, one girl is sharing her personal story in the hope that she can help others.
Jazz Jennings was born a boy, but started to show leanings toward a feminine side at only 15 months old. By age 2, Jazz started to verbalize her feelings that "she was a girl," and by 5 she was one of the youngest people ever to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria ― a persistent unease with the characteristics of one's gender, accompanied by a strong identification with the opposite gender.
After the diagnosis, Jazz's incredibly supportive family decided to embrace her inner feelings and allowed her to start transitioning from male to female while she was only in kindergarten. Although she was teased on occasion, Jazz maintained her outgoing personality and never let anyone stand in the way of her confidence about her gender identity.
Now, at 14, Jazz has co-authored an illustrated memoir aimed at children called "I Am Jazz." The book chronicles the early years of Jazz's life, from her diagnosis to her struggles at school, and it's not just for kids in the LGBTQ community but for anyone who feels like they don't fit in.

Is it Biology? Yes.
Public Schools are churning out gender confused young ones...where else could they get a daily spoon feeding of this type of drivel...
And if you were born with both, then you have an issue to resolve. It happens. Rarely, but it does.
Remember when “blowing a tranny” meant serious car trouble?
No. God gave us our sex. “Gender” is a humanly created, originally grammatical, notion with which the left has replaced sex. The replacements is, as I noted in a previous post, a category error. The error is, however, committed maliciously and it not a mistake, but a lie.
Don’t accept their lie.
Public restrooms and locker-rooms are traditionally segregated by sex, not by gender.
Nah. It is your DNA. No matter what these people do to their bodies, every cell screams XY (boy) or XX ( girl). Psychiatrists, in their need to be PC, have failed these confused people.
The term “gender” was hijacked by cultural Marxists to obliterate common sense on this subject. In reality there’s no such thing in biology. Nouns and adjectives have a gender. Mammals, including humans, have a sex, determined by their chromosomes. There are only two, male and female. This used to be a matter of basic science - now it’s forbidden to point it out. But, to paraphrase Galileo, it’s still the truth.
So-o-o-o-o....you are admitting it's a mental disorder
And implying that a proper medical response to this mental disorder is surgical mutilation - which I guess would also apply to other dysphorias such as species dysphoria.
I agree. I am not creating a false dichotomy between the two...
I couldn't help but notice that the child's mother seems to be enjoying the notoriety.
“Yes, and the guy in the next room thinks hes Napoleon Bonaparte.”
Excellent point. My wife has had patients tell her they are God, Jesus, Chuck Norris’s first wife, and other identities. I guess they weren’t crazy, they were just liberals.
I don't think she wrote it either.
It says the author is Brian Prowse Gany.
“What defines gender?”
I believe gender is a concept of grammar. What they really mean is “sex”. There are two sexes: male and female. They like to talk about gender because they can confuse things.
“Just by looking at picures of this kid, there was a physical appearance which was not masculine and it went beyond dress or hairstyle.”
The parents let the kid start “transitioning” at 5 years old, so who knows if they were giving him hormone treatments. Even if not, prepubescent kids don’t usually look all that masculine or feminine.
So much so that she had her interview written up by a guy (used loosely) who worked on the set of "ROOM RAIDERS".
The boy should have been removed from the home when they named him "Jazz".
heh....good on ya mate.
