I agree with poster. You can have a set policy that says if this happen x happens. But to do it adhoc is basically making the politician look good at the expense of taxpayer.

And cops gets paid higher with benefits already for the threats they endure!

Well then you agree with the posthumous promotions.

As I pointed out to another poster posthumous promotions with associated benefit increases are standard practice in the NYPD for police killed in the line of duty.

As you say, "x happens".

Teachers in NYC get better benefits and get paid more per hour worked than cops do.

Also cops don't get tenure.
