Did the families ask him to stay away? Regardless of the desires of the mayor or the police, the wishes of the families should prevail.

The family asked DeB to be there. And while I loathe him and understand the feelings of the officers of the NYPD,I think turning their backs and chatting, even though it was outside on Myrtle Avenue was disrespectful to the family and to their murdered brother.

If that was my family member he would have been KEPT OUT at any cost and if not then I would have spoken about how we didn’t want him there and he insisted on appearing anyway. I would have made it very clear that he was not wanted and was not invited.
