So, the cities should make them get a Street Entertainer License.

Great point Cripplecreek...why don’t we let the hucksters set up shop on your street? What’s good for the goose...

I don't mind. They won't make any money but that's the breaks of living among intelligent people.

Making them get a license probably wouldn’t be a bad idea if its cheap. Unfortunately the oh so honorable Casinos would be all over the city council to get rid of the competition.

Di Blasio in a just a year is reversing two decades of hard work by Giuliani/Bloomberg making NYC livable again.

Agree that Wilhelm is destroying the hard work that Giuliani did. But, Bloomberg? No.

I understand Bloomberg for his anti-gun rights and nanny state stances is unpopular but as mayor of NYC he continued the policing policies of Giuliani.

Commie cop-hater DiBlasio...building a bridge to the "Bad Old Days" for New York City.

I remember in the heydays of Giuliani. I took my wife to the city for a few days. Whatever was going on was magic. It was fall, the weather was perfect and people were in a very good mood. We went all over the city and met nice, optimistic people.

We took a bus ride with a spirited driver - nice black lady who greeted everyone with a big smile and a "welcome". When the bus got full, an elderly woman and others got on. I offered my seat and every man who spotted a woman standing did the same until we got off the bus. The driver was beaming at all of us with a smile in the mirror. When we got of she waved and wished us a great day. It didn't end there.

We went to China town to "look at"..."stuff" - you know, where they have the secret doors and sell Chinese made knockoffs? The police were all over the place and they just turned their backs on the stores. They were looking for actual trouble and people smiled at them, they smiled back. They seemed to be enjoying the attention while they were obviously making a show of keeping order. We felt protected, they felt appreciated.

Everywhere we went it just seemed people were happy. It was like Disney in New York City. Now I lived near there for years and I can tell you it was not like that before, and I haven't seen it like that since. Best reports I get from residents there is that it's not the same as when Giuliani ran the city.

DiBlasio is a commie curse on the people who live there.

That big Caddy has a measly six-banger under the hood?!

I used to have a giggle at people who owned those 6 cyl. Camaros, they thought they had a really fast car. I've had Z-28 Camaros, (V-8, 350s) not the absolute fastest car out there but they make the baby Camaros look like a joke.

It's always been my understanding that Doomberg pretty much continued Rudy's policies.I don't recall the NYPD ever having serious problems with Doomberg....but Wilhelm is a different story.

I remember pre Giuiani when they had sidewalk chiropractors offering, "loose joints". I guess today they have loose cigarettes and large sodas.

At 69 years old now, I’ve finally outgrown my need for speed and power. I drive a Camry now.

Have you ever experienced this first-hand? Yes, technically, you do have to make the willful decision to participate.

But the mark doesn’t know he is the mark, that’s how this succeed.

There will be a crowd. You’ll walk up to the makeshift table. They’ll be playing the game and two or three guys will be in the crowd gambling, some winning some losing, throwing down serious money. Then they keep losing. You know it’s a scam. You look around at the other people watching who are not playing. The dealer is talking to them, trying to get them to play. Ah! you say. That one is the mark. He plays. He loses. Knew it! That guy steps away. A few more plays with the two other guys who are obviously a part of the scam, throwing down the big bills and not caring too much when they lose. Then you see they pick another mark. They call her out. She plays. She wins! Everyone congratulates her. She has a good eye. She plays again and loses. Ah, too bad.

But you have a good eye. You keep watching the game and you have the correct position 3 for 3, then 5 for 5. My gosh, ten times in a row you knew exactly where the card or pea was. You DO have a good eye. Dang. How can those guys not see where it is. The dealer can’t move the shells or cards fast enough for your eye. There! That’s 12 for 12.

OK. $10 won’t hurt. I won!

Double down.

A few moves and you’re up $40. Sweet!

Double down. Then again. Then again.

Wait. How’d I miss that one? I was as sure as all the other times that I knew exactly where the pea or card was.

Damn. I just lost $?? of my own money. How’d that happen.

No, I never lost money because I never played. I realized just in time that I was the mark.

The people of New York City elected a con man to be their mayor. They deserve him.
“You can’t con an honest man.”
The city is overrun with grifters.

I suspect a lot of people play for the show knowing full well that they aren’t going to win. Its a lot like carnival games.

Bloomberg brought down crime SIGNIFICANTLY, even from Rudy’s levels...to the point that NYC was safer than many states. The homicide rate in NYC is between 1/6th and 1/15th of virtually ever other major city. Bloomberg did a great job on crime...even if he was a loonie and a jerk in most other areas.
