New Study May Add to Skepticism Among Security Experts That North Korea Was Behind Sony Hack
New York Times ^ | 12/26/2014 | By NICOLE PERLROTH

A number of private security researchers are increasingly voicing doubts that the hack of Sony‘s computer systems was the work of North Korea.

President Obama and the F.B.I. last week accused North Korea of targeting Sony and pledged a “proportional response” just hours before North Korea’s Internet went dark without explanation. But security researchers remain skeptical, with some even likening the government’s claims to those of the Bush administration in the build-up to the Iraq war.

Fueling their suspicions is the fact that the government based its findings, in large part, on evidence that it will not release, citing the “need to protect sensitive sources and methods.” The government has never publicly acknowledged doing so, but the National Security Agency has begun a major effort to penetrate North Korean computer networks.

Because attributing the source of a cyberattack is so difficult, the government has been reluctant to do so except in the rarest of circumstances. So the decision to have President Obama charge that North Korea was behind the Sony hack suggested there is some form of classified evidence that is more conclusive than the indicators that the F.B.I. made public on Friday. “It’s not a move we made lightly,” one senior administration official said after Mr. Obama spoke.

It will be interesting to see if those in the FBI come forward when Obola is finally gone, and say “but we were only following orders!”

Nobody benefits more than Hollywood and big government progressives.

Al Sharpton now gets to “consult” on movies and the progs in DC are talking about cyber security legislation and maybe a whole new federal agency.

Considering his batting average, ANYTHING endorsed by Obama is likely to be wrong. And when my liberal local newsrag posted Obama’s blame front page above the fold I became certain that this was only done to soothe nervous lefties in la la land.

Yes, orders from Eric Holder and the army of progressives, black racists and Muslims the Obama regime has been scattering throughout the federal bureaucracy ... both as appointees and as permanent civil service cadres.

I hope that someday it will be know what happened in Benghazi on 9/11 2012. And more importantly what Obama knew.

Bruce Schneier, world known IT security and cryptography expert was on a radio show a few days ago, and said it was ridiculous for the govt to claim they knew who the hackers were, given the technical difficulties of making such a determination.

“researchers remain skeptical, with some even likening the government’s claims to those of the Bush administration in the build-up to the Iraq war.”

“The bush lied and people died” was a favorite Lib retort. But the truth is that he did not lie re the Yellow Cake deal in Nigeria. It was reported by British intellegence, and proved true.

Obama Admin constantly lies, even the Libs admit it.

It was North Korea (as a proxy) backed by CHINA — who is the real culprit behind many of the cyber-attacks against the USA at all levels of its infrastructure. China is getting ready for a real war, and this is just a small part of it.

I don’t know who did what, but it would not take technical expertise in tracking the hack to find out who did it. Intercepting communications chatter, human assets, etc can tell you who was responsible without any Internet digging at all I would think.

Let’s see;

the Obama backed FBI says NK did the hacking.

the Obama backed media runs with the story that NK did the hacking.

and of course Obama and his minions go on a 3 day marathon of interviews saying NK did it.

You can bet your bottom dollar NK did NOT do the hacking and that it is a sham facilitated to divert our attention away from something else that is devastating to the Obama administration.

Lies and more damn lies is all that comes out of this POS administration.

In other words, North Korea is getting a pass, because trade must go on with North Korea’s big sister.

I don’t believe that North Korea has the capability for this. I have read Sony had a special team to investigate and found it was a former employee with passwords that still worked and got some help to do it.
Makes a lot more sense that NK.

Another point. If a Sony employee had done it, he/she would have already been picked up and talked about all over the media.
