Rangel wants end to finger-pointing (“Policemen have to know that we love them”)

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that political mudslinging had “no place” after the murder of two New York police officers.

“Pointing fingers has no place at all with civilized people,” he said.

It’s the second day on a row that Rangel has urged people to stop criticizing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and other politicians over the killings. In the hours after the murder, the head of the city's largest law enforcement union suggested that de Blasio had “blood” on his hands.

Rangel also said that it was important that all New Yorkers communicate their respect for the police as the force grapples with the loss of two of its employees

“Policemen have to know that we love them,” he said.

“They have to know when we get [ticked] off over some lack of communication with them that we're going to speak up and we're going to protest, but it doesn't mean that when we lose one of the family that we don't feel that pain,” he said.

Rangel also said that it would be important to understand how the killer, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, was able to obtain a gun despite a history of criminal convictions.

That echoed his Monday comments that police unions should be using their platform to push for greater gun control that could stop someone like Brinsley from obtaining a firearm.

Brinsley allegedly shot himself after killing the two police officers in an ambush-like attack.

That link should be required reading.

OTOH, many would see it as cops acting badly.

Translation:

Stop the mudslinging — from those on the right.

Stop the finger pointing — from those on the right.

==

Their civility calls are always one-way — for those on the right to be more civil.

Of course, they wrap their calls in faux rhetoric.

The Mayor, for example, was calling for calm/civility — until after the funerals of the two policemen.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often-or blind nut finds a squirrel or something like that.

Liberal want the finger pointing stopped.

Let’s reverse the roles. Imagine (God forbid) Obama being shot a week after some fringe group demonstrates and calls for his death. Would the liberal not finger point? To the contrary, they would be playing the protest videos 24/7 until after the next election.

the only reason any lib would turn around now and defend police is because they realize they have lost control and when the police have to respond with rules of engagement like our military, a lot of innocent Black Americans will suffer or die at the hand of their neighbors.
