Huge news just broke which is a major defeat for the political correctness crowd. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rejected a petition which was seeking to stop the Washington Redskins from using their team name or face major fines. The 1st Amendment won!
Sen. Harry Reid and 50 Senate Democrats have worked on a major campaign to stop the Redskins, even though their fans love the name and a vast majority of Native Americans (90%) dont find the name to be offensive. This is awesome:
The FCC on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by a professor claiming the Washington Redskins name is indecent.
George Washington University Professor John Banzhaf asked the FCC to deny renewal of the broadcast license for a radio station co-owned by Washington team owner Daniel Snyder, because of the repeated use of the word Redskins. Attorneys for Snyder have said banning broadcasters use of the word would violate free speech and property rights.
The status of similar petitions filed by three Native Americans against TV stations are still active.
The FCC determined that the law defines profanity as sexual or excretory in nature, so it cannot find the word Redskins profane.
We find that there have been no serious violations of the [Communications] Act or the rules involving the station or any other violations that, taken together, would constitute a pattern of abuse, wrote Peter H. Doyle, chief of the Media Bureaus audio division.
Banzhaf said he will not stop his effort to get the name banned from the airwaves.
Ive got quite a number of options were still looking at, he said in an interview. Ive got to sit down with some of my colleagues and see where we go from here. Its a disappointment, but its certainly not the end of the line.

Dude, chill. God would have no problem with that post, and neither should you.
I guess I can bump this with:
Go Utah Utes! Runnin Redskins!
As a Cowboys fan I do not like the Redskins. But I’m happy they won but sadden that it ever was in doubt. People are such wussies these days and get offended too easily.
Correct, Joe. the FTC has no friggin’ business in this matter. And the implication is that the govt. will “allow” this sickens.
...and in a related thought - I would think this would be the kind of obvious, over all big picture message of what a liberal Democrat is that say, the GOP, might THINK ABOUT USING as a teachable moment????
But no.....
Another reason to take away tenure.
They should have thrown the game!!!! Their victory did nothing but help the Cowhomos take the East!!!
A great show that deserved an extra season or two.
How much you want to bet that every single one of them has Redskins tickets?
They tried to lose but Sanchez kept giving it back to them!

I have lightened up.
The word awesome is overused.
I enjoy mocking it, and even the people who use it.
Hail to the Redskins.
Sorry dude, doesn’t work that way.
Why don’t you just admit you did what we all do at times? - Which is to over react. You did. We all know it. None of us disagree with you about God BTW.
Our goal is to reach people for Christ. People who are so heavenly minded that they’re no earthly good, turn people off to the Gospel.
Who is John Banzhaf ?
https://www.activistfacts.com/person/1517-john-banzhaf-iii/
Banzhaf has never met a lawsuit he didnt like. A George Washington University law professor, Banzhaf brags that his signature class is nicknamed Suing for Credit (and, by some, Sue the Bastards 101). Thats clearly Banzhafs passion: his vanity license plate reads SUE BAST.
He even threatened to sue the Seattle School Board and individual school board members for making soft drinks available to teenagers in school. Banzhaf has also discussed going after milk producers because the famous Got Milk? ads dont mention the benefits of skim milk. Just as cream rises to the top, John Banzhaf can always be counted on to sink as low as possible.
So true...
It was not the FTC, but the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). They were trying to keep the word “Redskins” from being broadcast over the airways which would have kept their games, totally, off of radio and TV; which would be a lot of loss of revenue.
Yep, and I see that kind of thing in many churches, on FR for sure - a hard line graceless old Testament kind of tee totaling rigidity and misery. People LIKED spending time with Jesus. Jesus liked parties - he changed the water into WINE and did so AFTER the guests were already tipsy on the cheap wine. A prostitute was the first person to see the Risen Christ - surely one of the most important people in God's plan ever to be given such an honor.
For that guy to get all worried about a forum post just doesn't make sense to me. He should have been man enough to admit he over reacted. No shame in that. Many do it. I've done it.
They should have thrown the game!!!!

Professionals don’t do that. They don’t even think about doing that. The only people who think that way are gambling addicts, mobsters, and people who need intense therapy.
