North Korea appears to be suffering from a cyberattack that has brought down the country's internet connection.

North Korea Tech is reporting, via Vox, that there were frequent outages on North Korea's internet network over the weekend.

This chart from Dyn Research shows that North Korean websites have been going through regular outages:

Internet connection issues aren't definite proof that someone is trying to attack North Korea. The country's internet is only accessed by a handful of people, so it doesn't take much to force it offline. Officially North Korea only has 1,024 IP addresses.

Obama will take credit for it and claim that it is a proper and measured response to the Norks zinging Sony. He will then resume play on the 13th hole.

You may be right. We have a lot of talent here in the USA. Best thing would be is to put a virus on all N Korea computers with “I’m so Lonely” with Korean subtitles that comes up every time the computer is booted up.

As I said on another thread, humiliating a megacorporation with a billion-dollar IT budget in front of the entire world is probably not the wisest course of action. If I worked for Sony I’d be out for blood.

I thought the entire PC network of the Norks consisted of three Commodore 64s.

Close. VIC-20s.

Today, chatters in S. Korean Internet is that, at many news site, there is a marked drop in pro-North or left-wing replies, coinciding with the outage of N. Korean Internet. A significant portion of Cyber propaganda operation by N. Korea has been blocked for now, if this is to be believed.

Local cyber-operation is undertaken by N. Korean shills and pro-North S. Korean sympathizers. The latter have been also hit by the court order outlawing pro-North party in S. Korea. So this development could have contributed to the drop as well.
