Obama: North Korea Sony Hack ‘Not An Act of War’

21 December 2014

The US is reviewing whether to put North Korea back onto its list of state sponsors of terrorism, President Barack Obama said in a wide-ranging interview recorded on Friday and broadcast on Sunday, as he decides how to respond to the cyber-attack on Sony Pictures that has been blamed on the communist nation.

Speaking to CNN, Obama described the Sony hacking case as a “very costly, very expensive” example of cybervandalism, but did not call it an act of war. In trying to fashion a proportionate response, the president said the US would examine the facts to determine whether North Korea should be put back on the terrorism sponsors list.

“We’re going to review those through a process that’s already in place,” Obama said. “I’ll wait to review what the findings are.”

North Korea, meanwhile, threatened to hit back at the White House and other US targets if Washington sanctioned it for an alleged hacking attack. The country’s top military body, the National Defence Commission (NDC), again denied involvement in the hacking.

In a statement on the official news agency, the NDC said its army and people “are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the US in all war spaces including cyber warfare space to blow up those citadels”.

My first thought in all this is wondering just how real the hack was? Some reports suggest maybe not much. Thus, a marketing ploy going bad? And, the movie, if it is as bad as some leaked email suggest, on par with Team America, this all becomes pathetically embarrassing.

While not giving an inch to Korea, it’d be nice to hear/see some irrefutable evidence that this really was Korean action.

Besides, things get hacked every day.

Obama’s gone on his 17-day taxpayer paid vacation so he’s not giving it much attention. Everyone else is, like lemmings, chasing this instead of focusing on amnesty, Obamacare, and traitor Republicans in Congress.

BTW, isn’t Sony a Japanese company anyway? What are they doing about it?

Finally, Korea, if you are going to hack something, how about Obama’s birth and student records?

Congress. Oh, and the media, and the Republican party for stacking presidential primaries to weed out any conservative and ensure only 'middle of the road' (IE: liberal lite) candidates survive the first few weeks of the campaign. At the end of those primaries, McCain and Romney looked 'presidential' compared to Obama. Only there wasn't any draw to bring out conservative voters and entice them to show support and bring their neighbors and friends, plus a whole lot of white guilt who decided to vote for a black man being in the White House.

Good. We will set up a committee to study the hacking giving it an 18 month deadline for a report and then we will send off a tough letter. In the meantime we will deny North Korea importation of Cheerios.

Obama constantly shoots from the hip. He begins with a conclusion, then “investigates” until he finds evidence to support his prejudice. Intellectual midget, and easily the worst US president, ever.
