Bay of Pigs Veterans Feel 'Abandoned Again' By US Diego Urdaneta

Miami (AFP) - When the United States failed to overthrow Fidel Castro in the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion, CIA-backed Cuban fighters said they were gravely disappointed.

Today, the anti-Castro veterans say they've been let down again -- criticising Barack Obama's decision to restore diplomatic and economic ties with its 50-year Cold War foe.

"When the Bay of Pigs was abandoned, we were sad. And now we feel abandoned again, betrayed by the president," said Felix Rodriguez Mendigutia, head of Cuba's Bay of Pigs Veterans Association, referring to Obama's decision to thaw relations with Cuba.

As part of the CIA's planned -- and failed -- Bay of Pigs invasion, an exile force trained by the United States at secret bases in Nicaragua and Guatemala was sent into Playa Larga and Playa Giron, 250 kilometers (155 miles) from Havana, in April 1961, on a mission to overthrow Castro.

The invasion was a disaster for the United States -- after 72 hours of bloody fighting, 100 anti-Castro soldiers were killed and 1,000 captured.

We might want to remind ourselves....the Bay of Pigs episode relates back to the mafia to some degree.

And Kevin Bacon, to a degree.

Ever notice it’s always Democrats?
Kennedy acting like a bitch, refusing air support to the Cuban freedom fighters and leading to the Russians attempts to put missiles in Cuba.
Carter surrendering a paid-off canal, botching the hostage rescue after months of nothing.
Clinton selling out to the Chinese, refusing armor to Rangers in Somalia. All of them weakened our military.
Now Obama is selling us out to Cuba.

LBJ helps hide what JFK did to us.

From Vietnam, to the 1965 Immigration Act, to homelessness (permanently emptying the mental hospitals in 1963 legislation) to unionizing government, to stealing the 1960 election and giving us LBJ, JFK was the end of America.

“However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Boston’s WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.

In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedy’s blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960.
In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.

After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFK’s legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, “I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies.” Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.”

The Russians only attempt to put missiles on Cuba, after we were already putting missiles into Turkey. Look it up....it was tit-for-tat.

I addressed my postings #11 and 13 to the Moderator who deleted my #8 posting just seeking the reason for deletion.

In both cases, FR changed the address to Moder_ator.

Is this a device used by Moderators to prevent communication with posters?

Kennedy’s actions in 1961 in not backing up the Cuban freedom fighters were shameful.

And Obama’s actions in 2014 in embracing and rewarding the Castro brothers close the circle of shame.

JFK bailed out the prisoners ("Tractors for Peace"), then they presented him with their banner; he told them it would be returned to them in a free Havana.

Do you get paid for parroting the administration line? Do they have more openings for paid trolls? Do I need to go to DU to apply online?
