I read some where once, where they did a study on long lasting marriages, 40-50 years. The common denominator in nearly every instance was that it was the man who absolutely adored the wife. It wasn't equal adoration or the other way around. He put her on a pedestal.

My sense is, a marriage where the woman proposes probably won't last long term.

The Bible says that a man should love his wife, and a woman should respect her husband. That does seem to be true of marriages that last.
