He may not be in public much anymore, but he’s still calling the shots.
I agree. Relations with China should never have been normalized.
It was a huge mistake we pay for all the time and has and will seriously affect the long term freedom of the human race.
Nixon and Kissinger saved a tottering regime that had brought the country to madness.
Our overture propped them up and then provided the economic benefit to keep them in power and to make the claim that they, the Chinese Communist Party, brought wealth and property to China.
I Agree. 100%. Obama yearns for the destruction of America. This is another step down that road.
As Ted Cruz pointed out: Our friends no longer trust us and our enemies no longer fear us.
Thanks for setting the record straight. There are too many out there that still think that we changed China when in fact the reverse happened, the current conditions of the federal government being evidence of that.
“Im guessing Walmart already has plans drawn up for a new store in Havana.”
BOL! A couple of months after the Cuban Missile Crisis was over, I was on a ship in Gitmo. The CO’s attended a meeting of CO’s and other brass. I went as an assistant if needed.
During a coffee hour one of the CO’s said “We should demand that Castro allow Sears, Wards, KMart, McD and other American businesses be allowed to have stores in Cuba and American TV shows/news to be shown on tvs bought at the Cuban Sears, Wards, and Kmart. He said that would kill communism in a couple of years instead of embargos and restrictions which would only make life miserable for the Cubans not in power.
A couple of decades, later I have felt that he was correct.
I’m not a student of Cuba, but it seems to be that they would be ripe for a democratic takeover of the government.
That would be a great reason to normalize relations.
“There are too many out there that still think that we changed China when in fact the reverse happened,”
Exactly.
You’re assuming Cuba would have just let them in.
what’s the wet spot on the road under the radiator?
“Fidel is probably a vegetable and his brother won’t be around much longer. Their successors will probably be “Communist” in name only, like the Chinese after Mao’s death.”
They are Communist in word and deed still today.
Worse than they were before Deng in many ways as they now have power and influence.
Why do you act as the Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece?
Getting Cuban cigars in Canada would be fine if I traveled to there.
“Under Mao, there were no privately owned businesses of any kind, not even mom and pop shops”
Interesting how baldly you lie and distort things.
Why?
Gitmo. this guy is a real slick human trafficker. I bet this is how they do things in Kenya and Indonesia. One week ago he released the leader of the group that killed over 100 kids in Pakistan. Do you think the Pakistanis know this?
I was just thinking, instead of just making AmeriKa this guy is really aiming for one communist world. Or maybe sorry-a$$ soros wants to be the first trillionaire.
I’ve tried some of the “fabled legends of yesteryear”. The old Cuban Black tobacco strain was wiped out by an epidemic of blue mold that wiped out the Cuban tobacco crop in 1980 (and took many fabled vitolas that predated the revolution with it), and has since been replaced by several cross-bred varieties. Some things just can’t be avoided.
That said, for the most part, I’ll take current production (allowed to age for 2-3 years) any day. And I’ve yet to find a Dominican stick that even approaches a genuine Cuban.
Obama sure loves Communists thugs and dictators... it’s almost like he’s one of ‘em.
In 1982 Cuba was a Soviet satellite state. Now its a pathetic little stand alone country that is falling apart.
And by the way.... Reagan also negotiated with Gorbachev. He even signed a mutually negotiated treaty with the Soviet Union.
So what happened to “never surrender” and “never give an inch”? Yes, what WOULD Reagan do?
Actually, this is good as it reduces the influence by Soviet-Putin.
Do not forget that the Cuban exiles are infiltrated by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direcci%C3%B3n_General_de_Inteligencia and as John Schindler wrote:
It’s easier to enjoy Cuban RW exile nuttiness when you realize that a high % of their rabid press releases are actually written in Havana.

Reagan didn’t normalize relations with an entity called the USSR; the INF treaty certainly was no step towards doing so. Reagan certainly did not normalize relations with Cuba as Obama is doing.
Cuba’s no standalone country. Its alliances with China, Russia and Iran still stand.
