WASHINGTON The Senate confirmed three Texans Tuesday night for lifetime judicial appointments, capping an effort to fill vacancies in the state that have languished for years.
The nominees U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman of San Antonio, Texarkana lawyer Robert Schroeder III and Sherman Magistrate Judge Amos Mazzant III were approved by a voice vote on Congress final night this year. Pitman, the first openly gay U.S. attorney in Texas history, will be the states first openly gay federal judge.

He was not impeached for bad decisions. He was impeached for stealing prior to becoming a judge. He was convicted. His case was overturned on appeal. He is now in Congress. With the other, in my opinion, thieves.
What does it take to remove a judge from a lifetime federal appointment?
I think Article V convention should address that, and incorporate a clause that states that all decisions should be biased in favor of smaller government.
How would you word something like that? Is there any legal eagles here that can tell us how The Constitution might have included more language to make sure their INTENT of smaller government was known and followed?
Thank you, I could see his face, but not the name.
Yes indeed. Worth repeating.
I really thought that Krauthammer was a straight shooter until he made his hit on Cruz a couple of days ago when he claimed that Cruz fell into a Harry Reid trap and allowed three extra confirmations by the Dems.
That looked like nonsense when we all read the articles on the issue over the previous few days. So it was a shock to see Krauthammer mouthing the same nonsense on Fox News.
But the clincher was yesterday when he was given the opportunity to clarify (and correct?) his comments about Cruz and the confirmations. What did he do? He doubled down, making the same infantile accusation about extra confirmations. And this after Cruz himself, on Fox News, had explained that Reid was going to get all his confirmations before Christmas and there was nothing the Republicans could do to add or subtract from Reid's list. A view that was obvious to most of us here on FR. But not to Dr. K.
I've written Krauthammer off because of this. We are running out of friends.
I hope the Fox News staff reads Free Republic. They will not be pleased.
We need President Cruz. The sooner the better.
District level judges are far less important than the necessity of having the correct SCOTUS to put bad judges back in their place.
From the article: "None of them are controversial, Sen. John Cornyn said Tuesday, hours before the vote. Cornyn, the No. 2 Senate Republican, had pushed for the Texans to be confirmed before the end of the year. President Barack Obama announced the nominations in June, after Cornyn and Sen. Ted Cruz recommended the picks. Cornyn and Cruz, both members of the Judiciary Committee, publicly backed the three nominees at a committee meeting in September."
