PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A top Pakistani official says that 84 students have been killed in a Taliban attack on a military-run school in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

Pervez Khattak, the chief minister of the province where the attack is underway, says that roughly the same number of students have been wounded.

According to Khattak, the 84 killed in the Tuesday attack were all "children" but hospital officials earlier said at least one of the fatalities was a teacher and one security official were also among the dead.

Khattak says the fighting is still unfolding at the school.

Bad karma coming home to roost: the Pakistani ISI (security service) supported the Taliban for many years. Despite this attack, would not surprise me if some ISI fations still support them.

Congressional Progressive Caucus | Press Release

WASHINGTON—Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Co-Chairs Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and Keith Ellison (D-MN) sent a letter to President Obama today requesting the release of video recordings to members of Congress reportedly showing Guantánamo Bay detainees who are being force-fed while on hunger-strike. The full text of the letter is below and a signed copy is available here.

Dear Mr. President,

We write to request that you release to Members of Congress the video recordings of Guantánamo Bay detention facility detainees who are being force-fed while on hunger-strike.

U.S. officials first acknowledged the existence of such video recordings in April, 2014, during the habeas proceedings of Abu Wa’el Dhiab, a Syrian detainee cleared for release. Thirty two video recordings of Mr. Dhiab’s forcible cell extractions and force-feedings have been produced to his legal team as part of his habeas proceedings. Four additional video recordings have been produced for Imad Abdullah Hassan, a Yemeni detainee also cleared for release. The recordings are currently classified at the “Secret” level, although no national security or other justification has been provided for this classification.

Although Mr. Dhiab’s legal representatives are barred from revealing the contents of the recordings, they have broadly described them as “extremely disturbing” and allege that they are evidence of unlawful force-feedings taking place at Guantánamo Bay. In his court filings, Mr. Dhiab asserts that the force-feeding techniques are applied arbitrarily and constitute abuse that potentially rises to the level of torture. According to recent reports, at least one medical provider at Guantánamo is refusing to participate in force-feeding because of his opposition to the techniques.

A number of prominent non-governmental organizations have asserted that JTF-GTMO’s force-feeding techniques violate medical ethics and acceptable medical care standards, and constitute human rights abuses. The organizations also raise concerns about the secrecy surrounding the techniques.

The facts pertaining to these practices at Guantanamo should be available to Members of Congress. The judge for this case, Judge Gladys Kessler, has issued an order to release the videos. Ongoing secrecy is untenable.  U.S. personnel at Guantánamo should not carry out policies that are contrary to American laws or values. We urge you to allow Members of Congress to view the video recordings of Mr. Dhiab’s and Mr. Hassan’s force-feedings and to take any action necessary to correct these practices.

We will continue to support your efforts to close the Guantánamo Bay detention facility. Until that occurs, we would like to work with the administration to stop any abusive or illegal practices that take place within its walls. We look forward to your response.

The most recent reports put the dead at 126 with one being a teacher and one other being a security guard, all the rest are kids.

Makes no difference if the victims were teachers or students, they were killed by savages, plain and simple.

ISLAM is NOT a religion of peace, its a disease of the mind.

Go deeper. It is a parasite that attaches on to ones spirit.

In NT...demon possessed.

I agree on the disease of the mind....people who entertain violence, murder, and extremism in the mind will open themselves to like demons.

A little geography. As one can see Peshawar is very close to the border with Afghanistan.

The fruits of satan’s religion will continue until Jesus smites all of His enemies and puts them under His footstool.

God Bless those children!

Our traitor of a President has opened our borders and offered up the hard-earned resources of all working Americans to finance the invasion of any and all who seek to harm us. Just how long does anyone think it’s going to be before this happens right here on our soil?

"Not all moozlums are terrorists"? LOL. ALL moozlums support terrorists...all want you dead. However, only some will actively proceed to murder you and your family. Have you seen any moozlum protests over their continuous blood-soaked terrorism and mayhem?

"Taliban spokesman Mohammed Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack in a phone call to media, saying that six suicide bombers had carried out the attack in revenge for the killings of Taliban members at the hands of Pakistani authorities"

Such brave warriors to slaughter little children because they are in a hissy fit. I think the Pakistanis should arm their school children and then maybe those brave warriors will have to resort to slaughtering innocent sheep instead..........

So if all Muslims support terrorists, then the Taliban did us a favor in wiping out Muslim kids because they support terrorists like the Taliban?

That’s what you’re saying?

That doesn’t make sense.

I think that young Muslims still can be saved from the Islamic cult of murder and they shouldn’t be murdered for wanting to become educated.

Obama's statement condemning the attack did not mention the Taliban.
