Republicans squander mandate won in November elections

“Think of how stupid the average person is — and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

— George Carlin

Congress has gone full stupid.

Late Tuesday night, lawmakers released a 1,603-page bill that would dole out more than $1 trillion in taxpayer money (the federal government, by the way, has collected a record amount in taxes this year, but still can’t stop overspending).

Rollcall.com calculated that the massive omnibus bill came in at 289,861 words. Then the reporter dove into the math: “If members averaged 200 words per minute to read the dense legislative text, they would need 24 hours just to get through the bill.”

Of course, lawmakers long ago stopped reading the ginormous spending bills they routinely pass. Once upon a time, when Congress functioned, the 12 spending bills came in one at a time and America’s elected representatives deliberated long and hard over paragraphs, phrases — even single words. No longer.

Congress doesn’t pass appropriations bills anymore. Instead, lawmakers pile all 12 bills into one catchall omnibus bill for a continuing resolution — or, as this one came to be known, a CRomnibus.

When House Speaker John Boehner campaigned for the leadership job years ago, he vowed to give members at least 72 hours to read any bill before a vote. Back in 2010, the speaker said he didn’t think “having 2,000-page bills on the House floor serves anyone’s best interest — not the House, not for the members and certainly not for the American people.”

But that was before Mr. Boehner decided the highly flawed CRomnibus — with full funding for the budget-breaking Obamacare; for President Obama’s new amnesty program for more than 4 million illegal aliens; even for Michelle Obama’s disastrous school lunch program — simply had to pass.

The opportunity to redeem requires the dethroning of McConnell and Boehner.

Wait til they are really in control in January! Its too soon to start the witch hunts and burnings. Let them have some time—then, if they do squat, condeme them and look for a new party or form up the Liberty Party with Tea Party as a core. If Sarah Palin and Glen Beck join it just might work.

I got in the caller queue for C-Span’s morning show shortly after Obamacare passed.

The guest was a rat senator, and I wanted to ask, “Do you think it reasonable for your constituents to expect you to read and understand bills before you vote for them?”

Just before I was due up, the line went dead.

Though shalt not embarrass the ruling class.

The Republican Party is more liberal than the Democrats of the 1980's.

I think the turncoat Democrats who are actually switching to the Republican brand will be surprised and shocked to learn that the Republicans, which have been portrayed as evil, greedy, monstrous, bigoted etc. by the MSM, Hollywood and the Democrats are actually just Socialist Lite. They want Obama stopped too and the Republicans are just not up to it.

If it wasn’t such a serious issue, I could LMAO In a pathetic sort of way.
Record time is right! I would have expected them to fold by the end of January. Instead they folded 3 weeks before the new term.

Great column. I do wish the WashTimes would put out a better web site. I did pull out some extended snips to share with our local talk show host.

You don't get it, do you? Think of poker. Boehner knows what the next cards are for everyone at the table (Repub House AND Senate majorities). No brainer, right? You go ALL IN.

When you fold (cave) there are only two possible conclusions.

1. You are too stupid to be playing poker.

or

2. You WANT your opponent to win.

You are assuming that Boehner and McConnell get ousted from leadership. And that Pubbies who mouth Conservatism begin to walk the walk.

........the trillion dollar budget bill funded Michelle Obama’s disastrous school lunch program, the budget-breaking Obamacare.......and Obama’s amnesty free-for-all for more than 4 million illegal aliens here (and the endless chain migration of relatives to follow.......

THIRD WORLD LOOTING THE US TREASURY: $266 million of our tax dollars in the trillion dollars bill is going to Central America federales to help them (GAG) assist "child victims of violence."

THE FACTS ARE THESE Illegal Third Worlders (advocating the overthrow of the US govt) are organized into "pressure groups"...even before they jump our borders. Third World federales are salivating for zillions in "humanitarian foreign aid" and anything else they can ge their greeedy hands on.

REALITY CHECK---WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS TO HUMANITARIAN US FOREIGN AID Former Guatemala Prez used US banks to launder millions (Portillo was elected to (ahem) "redistribute" the nation's wealth. The ex-president of the Central American country of Guatemala faced charges in New York that he used US banks to launder millions looted from his impoverished nation. Alfonso Portillo took office in 2000 pledging to (ahem) redistribute Guatemala’s wealth.

Portillo, 61, allegedly ran scams to drain the impoverished country's coffers. The feds say Portillo embezzled about $2.5M provided by the Taiwanese embassy....$1.5 million was earmarked for “Libraries for Peace”....books for school kids. Portillo personally endorsed three, $500,000 checks issued against an account at the Intl Bank of China in Manhattan, then deposited the cash in the Miami bank account of a Guatemalan bank controlled by “a close associate and political supporter”.

The embezzled money was funneled to bank accounts in Paris in the names of Portillo’s ex-wife and daughter. Portillo swindled nearly $4M defense funds ...and plundered the national bank run by his alleged co-conspirator through overdrafts financed by public reserves. Stolen foreign aid money paid for expensive watches and cars, for Portillo and his associates, according to the indictment. (NY POST 5/28/13)

REMINDER: $266 million of our tax dollars in the current spending bill is going to Central America federales to help them (GAG) assist "child victims of violence."

Current Guatemalan President Otto Perez warns the US will be
inundated w/ even more contagious illegals if billions of US tax dollars are not handed over.

GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) - The United States should provide billions of dollars to help Central American nations curb the flow of illegal migrants, Guatemalan President Otto Perez said, and his government warns the problem will get worse if Washington fails to help.

Fleeing violence, trying to reach relatives already in the United States or seeking jobs, record numbers of child migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have been stopped at the southern U.S. border this year, causing widespread alarm. Last month, the three countries pitched Washington an ambitious development plan to confront the issue.

They want to pump about $10 billion into the region to create jobs and lift living standards, with the bulk of funding coming from the United States, Perez told Reuters. He hopes the plan could come up with about $2 billion a year from 2015 to 2019, a sum he equated to roughly 10 percent of annual U.S. spending on border security and immigration enforcement.

"Now we understand it's not simply a question of the United States saying: 'Right, here's $2 billion a year for five years' for example - the governments of the three countries have to play their part too," the conservative Perez, who took power in early 2012, said in an interview late on Monday.

The US aid package would boost infrastructure and provide more jobs in all three countries, especially in areas that send large numbers of migrants to the United States, he added.

The three Central American governments are urging the United States to shoulder the lion's share of the costs, arguing that U.S. demand for illegal narcotics has fueled violence among drug gangs across much of the impoverished region.

"The United States has to support this, it has no other option," Guatemala's foreign minister, Carlos Morales, told Reuters. "If they don't support it, the crisis will kick off again, you can count on it."

Perez said he hoped the United States would put up about 60 percent of funding. "But we'll have to discuss it calmly and see what each individual country can do, and what can be achieved by common consent."

During meetings in New York in September, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Central American officials he hoped Congress could approve about $300 million in funding, Morales said, noting the sum was "nothing" given the scale of the problem.

Central American leaders are due to meet Vice President Joe Biden on Nov. 12 in Washington to sound out U.S. support for their plan, Morales added.--SNIP--

CONCLUSION: OBAMA IS COLLUDING W/ THIRD WORLD AGENTS ADVOCATIMG THE OVERTHROW OF THE US GOVT included in the $trillion dollar funding bill is an extortion payment to Central America---$266 million tax dollars to help them (GAG) assist "child victims of violence."
