18 years of all the money she could steal and secrete, 18 years of crony padding, Senate resources and connections, 18 years for a Senate Pension, and an 18 year repertoire of corruption she can bring to K Street lobbying firms.
Nope, she don’t need no public office any more.

Exactly. She'll make far more money as a lobbyist in the Senate than she did as a Senator. She's getting a raise. Why would she work for a mere politician's salary when she'll be hauling down ten times that amount (or more) working the Seante lobby? She'll probably have more influence working on K Street than she had as a mere Senator, given that Senators spend a great deal of their time soliciting campaign funds from these lobby groups.
She's not going to be the hired help anymore. She's getting a promotion. Why would she consider taking a step down, especially since she's spent 18 years in the Senate, undergoing intensive training for this phase of her career?

And don’t forget the eighteen years of insider trading.
I can’t see a reason why she even wants to return to DC with all the money she has accumulated.
The time has come to spend it and enjoy its convenience.

Right you are! This is Louisiana. She is SO connected in so many ways( whole family is) she never has to work again. AND there is a mostly invisible husband to support her in her unemployment! Memories are short- she is stung now, but she will run again. Power is addictive and the Landrieus are a political dynasty that will not give up the status or income.Watch for one of her kids entering politics in the meantime.

18 years ? Try 35. She’s been in office continuously since she was elected to the LA legislature in November 1979.
