I dunno. Two years is the number YOU gave ME.
You're mysterious, but I know you have your way.
If you read SHTF post-apocalyptic fiction here is a good book:
Going Home: A Novel (The Survivalist Series) by A. American
The basic situation is that the government takes advantage of a solar storm to use EMP weapons to selectively knock out the grid and
force people into FEMA camps for processing, relocation or elimination depending upon their attitudes, skills, and political backgrounds.
END GALACTIC WEATHER NOW!!!
Only a massive government program and surrendering of our liberties can save us now.
Ban the sun. Women and minorities hardest hit.
I would like to stress a last minute way to get an important item or items should they be needed. People will head for Walmart and large grocery stores for supplies. Don't go there. Go to small stores that carry the same item or items. When a hurricane was coming, in order to get ice before it hit, we went to a small Mexican grocery and they had plenty of ice when the big stores were out. You'll also find plenty of food there such as beans and rice, anything used in a Mexican diet.
Ice is the only item we needed to buy for the hurricane as everything else was already in the house.
If power goes out due to a solar event, we will still have a working TV (if there IS any TV station to watch), working radios (if there IS any radio station working), and working short wave receiver radio (I'm counting on short wave still working). These items will continue to work due to my switching to battery operated devices and a solar panel to keep the rechargeable batteries working. Light will also be provided by battery operated light devices.
I sort of overdid it with providing ways to cook if there is no power - I have 7 ways to cook. Battery operated fans will cool us, good for indoor use propane heater will keep us warm as well as sleeping bags good for warmth down to 0.
One can substitute battery items for items that need electricity. It just takes some thinking through it and then following through with action.
I didn't choose using a generator since fuel will eventually run out, plus they make noise to alert others you have “stuff”. I chose a solar panel and gobs of rechargeable batteries in sizes I needed, good for 1,500 charges.
I don't need a working refrigerator since I have replaced any item needing refrigeration with a dry product not needing refrigeration.
DUH!
Our government is now all so concerned about a grid failure due to “space weather”?
Other than the Carrington Effect of 1859, we have not had a sun caused worldwide power outage.
But a power outage either by hackers, friendly or foe, is a distinct possibility these days.
And it can be blamed on a multitude of things.
Including a diversion from actions by our own lying, thieving, spying government.
Yeah, I’m overdue to exercise mine as well.

Excellent writing. I appreciate your work, and hope anyone on FR who hasn’t read your books and articles will do so (a lot is free, and the rest is worth far more than the nominal Kindle cost).
I don’t believe that it is possible to have too many ways to cook. LOL
Except for the DHS people actually generating the EMP.
Oh. Yeah. Because, of course, DHS pukes are just the sharpest knives in the drawer.
