Dr. Thomas Sowell's Greatest Fear
rushlimbaugh.com ^ | 12-10-2014 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Oh, folks, I have got to tell you, I interviewed Dr. Thomas Sowell yesterday afternoon, after the program for the next issue of The Limbaugh Letter. Now, normally I would tease you with what he said as a means of hyping the purchase of subscriptions, but because I don't look at you people as pockets and dollar signs, I'm gonna tell you this.

I started off by asking him, "Dr. Sowell, you and I and countless others have been chronicling the deterioration of American culture, our society, and our politics, in my case, for 25 years. We just keep talking about it. At what point does any of this change?" And he said that's actually the big question.

I said, "What's your biggest fear?"

Are you ready for this?

He said his biggest fear: The Iranians get nuclear weapons and attack not Israel, but the United States.

Dr. Sowell said to me that one of his, not his only, of course, one of his biggest fears is that the Iranians would launch a nuclear attack of some kind on the United States.

And the kicker? He is convinced that if Obama is president when it happens, that he will surrender.

I expressed total shock.

And he said (paraphrasing), "What did the Japanese do? All it took was two bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What did they do? If we wake up one day and Chicago and New York are gone, if we wake up one day and Dallas and Los Angeles are gone..."

The shock of that, I had to come back to it probably 20 minutes later in the interview to ask him about it, if it's something that he really believes. He's dead serious. He's 85 years old now and he doesn't sound a day over 50, if that.

Well losing NYC and LA and the loss of life would be regrettable but we as a nation would survive and I would expect Obama would be in grave danger of a coup d’é·tat by the Military in a very rapidly order.

Then the liberal/leftists would have lost four of their biggest strongholds.

Obama should be in danger of a coup NOW because of all the harm he’s down to America.

Maybe the Iranians will nuke Washington DC. Then we could send them a thank you note and live happily ever after.

“What does surrender to Iran mean?”

Excellent question.
In WWII, USA was ready to roll a million troops into Japan. Obviously Iran isn’t likewise capable to any degree, and not really in any position to invoke positive demands (to wit: loser will do X, Y & Z).

What would happen? what’s “surrender”? Nothing. And that’s the goal.
USA promised to protect Ukraine from aggressors. They were invaded, we did nothing.
USA promised to protect Israel from aggressors. This administration is more interested in berating than protecting.
USA promised to protect Taiwan from aggressors. Nobody, at this time, takes that seriously.
Likewise other promises of protection of friends worldwide. Where there should be a unquestioned expectation of strength, there is only projection of weakness (from failure to act on a grand scale, down to overt genuflecting to other leaders, to silence against rank insults (Putin’s tweets, UN photo of POTUS relegated to the leaders’ wive’s group)).

Seeing a should-be world-class jock & protector humiliated and impotent, petty bullies will turn their actions to acts of dominance: kick ‘em when he’s down. HARD. Make him _stay_ down.
Iran is making nukes. Yeah, they haven’t succeeded yet, but their scientists are not incompetent. Heck, even North Korea has built multiple nukes - under the worst conditions possible. They only need succeed once; 2-3 times clinches what’s next.

So, to “surrender”:
NYC & LA, for most practical purposes, cease to exist one morning. Iran takes credit.
Obama does ... nothing.
No vast counter-attack. No “glass parking lot”.
No active submission. No large ransom/protection payment.
Nothing.
The world sees the former superpower just sit there, whimpering. Impotent. Clueless. Pathetic.
World diplomatic influence ceases to exist.
THAT is surrender.
That would satisfy Iran.

And a giant power vacuum would appear.
And WWIII goes hot.

He's a little off. We do NOT need a nuclear device, or even a dirty bomb, to go off in Chicago or Pittsburgh to do incredible damage.

As my friend Bill Forstchen has written in his #1 bestselling book, "One Second After," a single EMP blast over Kansas would set us back to the 1200s.

Problem with that is delivery or Iran’s lack of now what you SHOULD be concerned about is Russia’s ability, and they have the means.

could that be the reason obozo has been firing the military’s upper and middle management officers directly involved in the US nuke weaponry programs so America under his command won't retaliate after a number of nuke strikes on the homeland? Trumped up charges on all those career officers that were fired? Not surprisingly, that's how the mob (organized crime) operates; can't trust them, eliminate them.

Very possible, could be he would surrender and US would be occupied by the UN at that point, like I said just because the Federals surrender doesn’t me I have to or would as at that point I have nothing to lose.

If we are nuked, but can not prove who did it, we can’t respond. With the border wide open and Russia’s ability to make suitcase nuke bombs and Muslims’ love of death and hatred of the US...

More than likely we will be hit by a dirty bomb but it could be a nuke. It will happen before Barry leaves office if it is going to happen at all. He most likely will not return fire figuring the US deserves to be nuked. Everyone knows the US is weak with the Black Muslim at the helm. Even our allies have grown cold towards us thanks to Barry’s dysfunctional personality and policy.

I think it is a real possibility. We had a Russian sub tooling around off our coast in the Gulf of Mexico that we missed for quite a while a few years back.

Thomas Sowell would be great in the Cruz/(fill in the blank with a Republican governor) administration.

There is an unconfirmed anecdote that goes something like....

When President-elect Reagan was assembling his Cabinet, one of his staff called Dr. Sowell, to persuade him to become a member. The call went on for over 30 minutes, with Sowell being told all of the reasons that he would fit right in. The staff member finally concluded with “...and you’d be the first Black Cabinet member”. The good Doctor promptly hung up.

I can’t vouch for the story, but it sure has a ring of truth!

Iran won’t waste nukes on Israel if they can use them in America.

You know, Iran really doesn’t have to use missiles to get a couple of nukes into the United States and set them off in large metropolitan cities—they likely have some “suitcase nukes” that they bought from Russia. Do you remember how Russia said that they had about 10 of these things gone missing not too long ago, maybe in 2000? (but not ‘missing’, just sold them to their ally Iran and other highest bidders).

What is it to say that these devices haven’t already made it across the Texas and California borders and be set off in LA and Dallas (or Austin)? And on a major Jewish or Christian observant day, like Hanukkah or Christmas?

From the depths of my soul I would hope that it would not take this scenario to finally and literally kick the U.S. military into launching a coup. While I was outside drinking coffee a few minutes ago, after hearing a cheery (but propaganda always) advertisement about how absolutely fabulous ObominationCare is, I said to myself, “That [O-Care, everything that that evil man has done to our country] needs to be stopped, and why not right now?”

Even with all the military personnel that the non-human thing that occupies the WH has fired, there has to be some left that will truly honor their creed and stop this madness.

Well, Iran fully has the delivery capability. You need one ship, a few hundred miles off the US coast. That’s all. Their launchers have 1500 mile range.

Re: first half
Should such a scenario arise, methinks they wouldn’t wait for “the right time”. You don’t sit on such an opportunity, waiting for the stars to align. Such an attack would be a defining moment, in no need of any other defining moment to bolster it. Delays greatly increase risk of discovery; keeping such a radio-active hot spot concealed for a prolonged period is darned near impossible, as there’s rather some serious money & tech devoted to finding such things.
I agree delivery would not be a huge problem. I disagree about them waiting to use it (deliver, push button, meet Allah - works for them).

Re: second half
Alas, it would require a staggering screwup for such military intervention. We’re still at the point where normal people can disagree about his actions, and the military is obliged to let the established political process take its course.
Taking down OBL was a scaled-down version of such a scenario. Methinks (based on little but perception of circumstance) BHO wanted to _not_ terminate OBL, but military folk long devoted to doing so made clear “THIS WILL HAPPEN - get on board or you’re out”, so he sat in the operation room quivering. Should we see, er, bright lights in NYC & LA (or some such), military personnel will likewise make clear about subsequent actions. And that’s about the only thing that WOULD persuade such intervention.
