This is about illegal amnesty, but that’s no longer the important part.
This is about an inroad to being forged for this or some future tyrant. THAT is not just rhetoric. This particular definition of presidential discretion is the end of the legislature’s reason for being and their being consigned the role of idea machine from which the executive picks and chooses what he wishes to enforce.
This is about the manipulation of the people, about the abject groveling of Congress to the Executive
It’s about the wholesale redefinition of our government.
The illegals must be stopped. But, this idea that the president can do as he chooses is not the government we were bequeathed. It is the road to tyranny.
You are absolutely right!
Maybe we should make some noise about a Constitutional convention to abolish Congress if they refuse to do their jobs. What’s the point of their being there if they’re not going to do the checks and balances they were put there to do?
Maybe that’s what the critters who are not willing to fight need to hear from us. Sure, they won’t believe it can ever happen, but it would at least be a way for us to express how incensed we are at the rule of law being abandoned for political whack-a-mole instead.

Bears repeating!
And pinging out to all y’all!
Research question:
Is this the first time this “discretion without an E.O.” ploy has been used?
