No, they owe all citizens deference. Your suggestion otherwise is laughable. Still, I do all I can to keep my dealings with cops cordial.

How were you driving and did you suspect you were driving crazy and is THAT why you were looking behind you to see that the police were weaving through traffic to catch up and pull you over?

Are you suggesting that using my mirrors and being aware of traffic around me is… reckless driving? You put a lot of words in my mouth to try to make your point. No, I was not weaving.

Are you saying the officer acted like a dirty cop and took cash right there like a bribe or did you mean your ticket relieved your wallet of your wedding cash?

I’m saying he sat me in his front seat and threatened to take me to jail if I did not give him cash. He took my money on the spot. I didn’t get a ticket and it never showed up on my record.

Being young and all maybe also you could have had a little attitude with the police and not have known it. 21 is not known for endless common sense.

At 21 I had been in the military for nearly 3 ½ years. I worked on B-52 Bombers sitting on Nuclear Alert. I had a TS clearance. I had military discipline, new to respect positional authority and knew how to behave.

I would think you've had no more experiences with the police but considering a Judge or officer could legally take your life I would consider deference.
I thought it was possible the police thought you were driving recklessly. All you have to do is change lanes while speeding as cops see it.
They are sitting by the slde of the highway and I think cars pass too fast to pick on tourist.
You had a lot of great responsibility, but it must have been the 21 in you that had you forgetting your speed.
