President Barack Obama, who had medical tests on Saturday after complaining of a sore throat, is suffering from acid reflux, the president's physician said.
"The president's symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly," Obama's doctor, Captain Ronny Jackson, said in a statement.
Acid reflux is a condition in which the stomach contents flow back up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing such symptoms as heartburn and sore throat.
Obama, 53, went to Walter Reed military hospital for a fiber optic exam of his throat and since swelling was detected, doctors decided to perform a CT scan as well, Jackson said.

I think if he did have cancer, they would keep it secret. It would make him even more of a lame duck, if that is possible, and he would not be able to handle it emotionally.
A friend of mine had stomach ache and possible acid reflux. Kept going to docs. They kept saying to take Tums. He had great insurance etc. He demanded more tests. They found cancer in 4 different organs. He just died this week, 2 months after they diagnosed him.

The absurdity of going to the hospital for acid reflux is beyond words!
Getting a CT Scan (with LOTS of radiation) & wasting valuable hospital resources and personnel over ACID REFLUX & a “SORE THROAT” easily with over-the-counter meds?
REALLY??
The only doctor who’d “advise” hospitalization for this is a TOTAL QUACK!

I had chest pains. My family has a habit of dying of “indigestion” and my cardiologist wanted to treat me for indigestion.
Come to find out, I actually had a blocked artery in my heart. Ended up getting a stent. Now I wonder if all my family died of heart blockages instead of indigestion.
Only if accompanied by hiccups.....as Ebola weakens the diaphragm causing an inflammation leading to hiccups.
...and those Statins for cholesterol control....causes confusion and bad decision making....see the FDA report from January......
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced that it’s now going to require makers of cholesterol-lowering statin medications to put new warnings on the label—namely that these drugs can up your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and memory loss.
The reason statin medications can affect the brain is that cholesterol is vital for the formation and function of synapses (the connections between neurons) in the brain that allow you to think and process information.
Again, that is not standard of care for a "sore throat".
Really have any of you been scoped when you said you had a sore throat?
I had a "squeeky voice" a while back.....the doc took a fiberoptic look at the voice box and found no abnormalities....put me on anti acid reflux pills but after a month made no difference....2 months later the symptom went away of its own accord.
Zantac (or generic ranitadine) is the miracle antacid for me. Suffer mild acid 2-3 times a year that lasts for a week or so (aftereffects of gall bladder removal years ago) - the ranitadine handles it nicely.
