President Obama has “destroyed” immigration enforcement in the U.S., Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) concluded Friday in reaction to the release of new Department of Homeland Security data.
DHS data obtained by The Los Angeles Times reveal that last year’s total deportations represented the lowest of Obama’s presidency, despite a surge of illegal immigration at the border.
The decrease in deportations included a 23 percent decline in interior removals since last year and represented fewer than half the interior deportations since 2011, when then-ICE Director John Morton issued the infamous Morton Memos placing restrictions on immigration enforcement.
According to Sessions, the DHS figures are “scandalous.”
“The effective result of the Administration’s non-enforcement policy is that anyone in the world who manages to get into the interior of the United States—by any means, including overstaying a visa—is free to live, work, and claim benefits in the United States at Americans’ expense,” Sessions said in a statement Friday. “Again: this is the result of lawless orders issued by this Administration.”
The Alabama lawmaker noted that “[s]o total is the collapse of enforcement” that even people apprehended crossing the border illegally have been simply released into the interior of the U.S.

So ..um...can we start talking impeachment now or what? We got about 772 days of this guy left in office, try to think how much damage he does in a single day.
Politicians complaining about the obvious accomplishes nothing. Sad, I think the only action that will save this country is some powerful politicians making a pact with some powerful military types.

Sessions has been solid on immigration for a long time, even before Obama.

He has already destroyed our border, and our nation. We are a nation no more. No border = no nation. I keep wondering when the majority are going to wake up to this fact.
Obama didn’t destroy it. It’s been non-enforcement for decades. Obama’s just not pretending anymore.
Absolutely! THIS is the key to reestablishing our government. Congress needs to let it be known that these department heads are going to face serious, serious consequences if they obey illegal orders rather than their sworn duty as established by Congress.
This is the showdown- where we need to fight to establish congressional powers again over the out of control president.
No Sessions has been fighting this for years but he is not Mitch, in fact I think Mitch is about to have him lose his bid for chairmanship to that staunch conservative Enzi that we all pulled so hard for.</s>
Screw Congressional powers how about States standing up for their rights? They are not required to carry out unconstitutional edicts by the President.
We held the Nuremberg trials for people who were only following orders.
He said he wanted to change the country , and he’s certainly doing that.
