HARRISBURG Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is leaving it to the governor's office to defend a lawsuit challenging a law backed by the National Rifle Association that was designed to dismantle illegal municipal firearms ordinances, officials said Friday.

If not, why is there an AG at all?
Democrats are allowed to change the rules doncha know? Her recent head injury must have clouded her judgement!
Help her head injury, throw her head first from the roof of her office.
Defenestration does wonders for motivation.
So she’s offering no defence against the NRA’s lawsuit? Isn’t that good news? Isn’t that rolling over and leaving it to the governor to defend if he will? I’m confused.
In reality she should be defending PASSAGE of the law as it passed with a 2-1 majority vote and was signed by the governer
Kathleen Kane/Commie Crapweasel.
Bought and paid for by George Soros.
Takes her marching orders from Eric Holder.
Can you explain a bit what’s going on Renegade?
Is there an existing law that in general supports gun rights?
And this existing law is being challenged by gun haters?
And AG is not going to defend the pro-gun law?
The left has destroyed the last shreds of legitimacy in broad areas of the law. They selectively enforce the laws that either serve or oppose their agenda, from immigration law to firearms restrictions, and politically-driven selective enforcement is the same as no law at all. Decent people no longer have any moral obligation to follow the law - law is a liberal toy and has no moral legitimacy. Most of us will follow most laws out of fear of politically determined punishments, but that is very difference from the level of compliance that would come from respect for the institutions.
Even after reading the article, i am confused. Last time i will ever do that.
PA would be much nicer if we could give Filthadelphia to NJ.
HA HA I don’t understand what’s going on either - even after reading the article.
Very little in the way of context is provided - not enough party information to help draw conclusions, not enough background info to even tell if the event is in support of gun rights or opposing them.
Alas...
If the state declines to defend its own law then the plaintiff wins by default is the theory. That is a scurrilous way to void a law passed overwhelmingly. That sort of thing has happened with various queer privilege laws and abortion laws in other states. Sometimes the state pols invite the suit and then don’t defend.
Yup.
Kane ran seven points ahead of other statewide Democrats and four points ahead of Obama when she was elected in 2012.
Her election came in large part because of the rage of Penn State fans over the fallout from the Sandusky matter. They blame the loss of reputation, NCAA sanctions, firing of JoePa etc. on the way the man who started the investigation (Attorney General later Governor Tom Corbett) handled it all with overtones of Kennedy Assasination conspiracy theories and such.
Corbett got himself sacrificed on the altar of JoePa this year losing when Republicans were winning everywhere but in his case. The local Republican congressman who represents the county where PSU is located ran 13 percent ahead of Corbett.
So the existing ag is not a disliker of anti-gun legislation. She is not unwilling to avoid not denying nothing unrelated to not defending the suit that does not defend the existing statute that to defend a lawsuit challenging a law backed by the National Rifle Association that was designed to dismantle something.
Got it.
All firearm laws in Pa are controlled and passed by the Legislature. We have open carry,CCW,Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground. Some towns decided to pass their own ordinances in spite of that fact. They would bring up citizens on bogus charges relating to to THEIR laws and then those persons would have to defend themselves and WIN in courts of law. It was expensive and the local towns got off the hook unless they were sued and the person/persons won.
The preemption law gave the people charged legal rights and gave the NRA permission to back them in a court of law.Damages and court costs were also included in the bill.
If the towns didn’t pass their own laws in violation of state law none of this would be necessary.
Philthydelphia ,Pittsburgh and other towns decided they didn’t have to abide by the laws so that was the need for the preemption bill.
This bill was also passed by a large majority when Rendell was gov. but he declined to sign it and then when Corbett took over it had to be run through the legislature all over again.
Someone needs to file a writ of mandamus against her.
Is there a video of A.G. Kane’s swearing in ceremony?
Negatively speaking, yes.
